Of course he had a hand in this too. I’m going to his room when something blinking in the distance catches my eyes. When I get to it I see that it’s a red light. I reach my hand and feel the substance which turns my body cold. It cannot be. My hands enclose around something familiar and gently I pick it up. It’s a bomb. At that moment Carrie’s last words before she passed out ring in my head and I understand why she didn’t fight back. She’s blowing the entire boat up.

I had completely forgotten about Jason asking me to come to his football game, and thinking about it, that was the only way to thank him. Right after the lecture, I was hurrying out of the class. My parents' blood, spilled on the wooden floor around their heads. I saw their lifeless eyes and still bodies, and wounded faces. I saw my eleven year old self crying and screaming for them to wake up and look at me again, to call me their baby again. But that did not happen, it never happened. And I saw the people that had done that to them, their smug faces and crooked smirks, their hands stained with the blood of my parents, and the set of tattoos on one of their forearms.
