Inside WaterRose, there was a rumble like thunder. The whole castle rippled. Every candle in the stronghold gusted and went out. Halls went silent and life seemed to die from every corridor of the structure. Sebastian’s presence withdrew from every cranny. Like the very breaths of magic he’d once given it, were dissipating. Water stopped rushing over the walls. Towers faded and began to crumble. Entire staircases, doorways and walls began to disappear. Vanishing as if they’d never existed.

It’s a level of destruction and power that could consume me in an instant. My breathing is heavy but controlled, the sound of my own footsteps muffled by the shouts and howls spreading through the fortress. I can feel the castle’s protective barrier weakening, like a web of magic unraveling strand by strand. The Sanchiano estate was no longer the grand fortress it once had been. The flagstones were cracked and caked in blood, runes across them glowing dimly as if the castle was struggling to recall its former might. And at its heart, Kellan was fighting for his life.

The softness she’d once loved, the way his eyes crinkled when he laughed, the way his mouth twitched before a smile was gone. This version of him looked like a man who’d swallowed something sharp and learned to live with it. Good. She hoped it hurt. "His company is bidding on the Henderson property in Midtown," Lucas continued, watching her face carefully. "Three hundred million. It’s supposed to be his flagship acquisition this quarter."

"Now that they have been contaminated, I might as well destroy them all." After the television, I went for the antique vase, then the portrait hanging on the wall… With a straight face, I smashed all the valuables in the house. I wanted to destroy everything. After the first explosion, a straight cracking line appeared in the middle of the divide and it continued cracking until there was a gorge separating the outer and inner parts of the castle. After that, the ground on the inner side of the castle started breaking and coming apart like chunks of dried-up mud. Vampires and humans started running helter-skelter. They started running out of the formation coverage range into the outer part of the castle where everything seemed to be calm and together.
