Cayde Lish Novels & Stories

Jace had the sense not to say anything, just briefly smiling at Cade. Cade swung onto the bike and Quinn crowded in close behind him and wrapped his arms around Cade’s body. “He’s not a boy,” Quinn said in Cade’s ear. “What?” “He’s not a boy. He’s not in the scene at all. He’s happily engaged to a lovely woman named Josie and they have a little girl called Lily.” “What the fuck do I need to know that for?” Cade muttered, but the tension eased from his muscles. “Because I expect you to respect the guys watching your back.”

“Oh, by he way my name is Chandry Alexander Potter but everyone calls me Chad.” “My name is Lilian Shayse, but I go by Lily.” “Shayse? As in..?” He looks past her to where she comes from the trees and swallows visably. “Yep. Alpha Darin Shayse is my father.” Saying the words aloud leaves a bitter taste in her mouth and she can not help but make a face of disgust as she says the words. “Oh.” Chad says quietly, looking down. “He won't let anyone on his land, so coming to visit you will be hard. Having just finally found you, and with our bond being so new, I don't think that I can go very long at a time without seeing you-”

Then it hit me. "Lopez..." I breathed while nodding. Cyrus stood up from his chair and started to pick up the empty boxes of the chinese takeout he bought on his way back here. I watched him walk over to the sink and wash his hands. I still can't believe that Cyrene is his sister but, something's not right. "So, if she is your sister, why is she not using Steele? Why Lopez?" I asked then I saw the way his body tensed.

The very possibility of having her guiding and supporting him filled him with renewed strength, like sunlight piercing through a dense fog. With determination welling in his chest, Caden resolved to invite Lily over to discuss the pivotal matter at hand. It was imperative to him that she understood the weight of the decision; it wasn’t merely about titles or roles but about forging a bond that would anchor them together while navigating the trials ahead. He imagined them standing united, facing whatever challenges came, and that thought alone gave him courage.

Liam: I waited outside the estate’s main doors, adjusting the cuffs of my shirt as if that would help the nerves crawling under my skin. I wasn’t supposed to be nervous. I wasn't even supposed to be as giddy as I felt. I’d faced bloodied wars. I’d led wolves into battle. I’d stood before Elders and kings without blinking. I even fought off rogues who invaded the territory without fearing the sight of blood, the smell of it, all while I was craving the adrenaline that came with it.

Chapter 16 "Hello, sir, " Caitlyn greeted as she walked into her boss's office. The man was busy rearranging his books on his shelf when she walked in. He paused and turned to her. "Sit, Caitlyn, " He told her and turned his gaze back to his shelf. "What do you want? " He asked when Caitlyn remained silent. She cleared her throat a little and hesitated for a while before responding. "A favor, sir, " She finally said. Her gaze was fixed on her thighs as she played with her fingers.

Cade made a displeased face, shaking his head. "No offense, Lily, but I could not handle you." Cade received a tongue stuck out in return. Blair scowled, quickly grabbing her tongue before she could jerk it back into her mouth. He carefully pulled down on it, causing her head to follow his movements straight down to his crotch.

He placed a gentle hand on his son’s shoulder. "Cade, there’s something we need to talk to you about," Asher began, his voice calm. "It’s about who you are." Cade blinked up at him, his blue eyes wide and curious. "Who I am?" "Yes," Olivia said, kneeling down besides Asher. "There’s something special about you, Cade. You’re not like all the other kids." Cade frowned a little, his tiny brow furrowing. "I’m not?" Asher smiled softly, trying to make it easier for his son to understand. "You know how we’ve talked about animals, like wolves? Well, you’re part wolf."

Liam's eyes crinkled at the corners as he smiled, and he patted Cade's back warmly. As they hugged, I couldn't help but feel a pang of gratitude towards Isabel. Her calm words had helped to diffuse the tension, and I sensed that she might become an unlikely ally in this complicated family dynamic. Liam's eyes sparkled with warmth as he looked at Cade. "No one told me that you were coming back today," he said, his voice filled with delight. "I wanted it to be a surprise, and I'm glad that you were surprised by my arrival," Cade replied, his smile mirroring his father's.

I tell them that it needs to be someone they trust but not her. “They need to not know who is looking into people in the office. So come up with a different person.” I tell them. “What about Kelsy?” Alek asks. “Who is Kelsy?” Kylynn asks. “She is a girl that we have known since the four of us were in grade school.
