Marriage First, Mate Second
I tell my love, making a mental note to add it to the shopping list, “You should have all of your favorite things.”
“You are my favorite thing,” he says seriously, “I like caviar, but I don’t need it. All that I need is you. The rest is just details.”
My husband takes two champagne flutes from the tray of a passing waiter and hands one to me. He takes my hand not occupied by my favorite cocktail, and we take a stroll around the room. The floor to ceiling stained glass windows glow in the twilight, depicting scenes from history and literature.
“Do you know the legend of this place,” my mate asks me, “It’s quite a romantic, tragic tale actually.”
