He quickly retracted the blade, dropped his elbow and pushed up.

He slid the blade through and forced it upwards, undoing the locking bar, only to feel it fall back into place as soon as he let the pressure off. Anger flooded him to be thwarted when so close to his goal and he jammed the machete back in, slamming it upwards as hard as possible to fling the bar up and out of its mountings. He heard a dull thump as something shifted, the door starting to fall outwards as he attempted to free the blade. It remained firmly stuck in between the two boards, however, and as he watched in annoyance the heavy door fell out, hitting the ground and snapping the handle off the machete.
