Chiara Moretti Alessandro stared down at me, his jaw tight. "You say that now," he said, and took a step toward me. "But you do not understand what you are asking for, Chiara. The mafia world is not a boardroom. It is not about signing papers or making smart investments. It is a world built on blood, loyalty, and extreme violence. It is filled with people who will not hesitate to cut your throat just to send a message."

That wasn't comforting. “And if she isn't?” “We will kill each and every one of them. Vincenzo is ruthless, but he is not stupid. I am sure he wouldn't want to start a war with you”, Ben said, no matter how comforting his words were. These people were Mafia lords, they feared no one, not even the law itself. My eyes drifted off to the CCTV footage, “Cara is leaving, let's follow her” I said, standing up. Usually, I wouldn't be present to catch her myself, but I was anxious about Taylor, any sort of distraction just not to worry was highly welcome.

Sherly listened attentively as the reporter's voice filled the vehicle, detailing the recent events in the ongoing mafia conflict. "The latest reports indicate that the long-standing rivalry between the Vile Mafia and the Rui Lin Mafia has reached a violent climax," the reporter announced gravely. Sherly looked out of the window, as she already knew its content. "In a decisive battle earlier today, the Rui Lin Mafia emerged victorious, effectively dismantling the Vile Mafia's hold on the city."

Five guards step out of it, and fall into step behind me instantly. With my phone in a pocket, and a pistol in my hand; eyes filled with deathly fury as we approach. The moment I step in, the sight before me makes my heart stop. Not because its new, I've seen thousands of dead bodies, it was worse after an all out war between two ruthless mafia Lords. What made my heart stop is the implication. "This is a lot." I mutter, noting the extent of damage that had been done. The thought of innocents being murdered, and killed for something they didn't do or had no idea of; makes my heart ache.

Author's note: Hi everyone, sorry I have been posting one chapter at a time. I'm not even sure if anyone is reading this book, but I love writing. I have a whole series of the mafia series, but I was told to post this one first. After I get done, I might just post the very first book of the mafia series. I'm sure you will love it. My very first book was "The Alpha's Mate." That's my baby. It only has sixteen chapters written, but truthfully, I have been reading books for a long time, so I thought I would try my hand at writing.

"You know, for a guy who's supposed to be an untouchable mafia boss, you’re making enough noise to alert every neighbor in the province," I said, leaning against the doorframe.
