“Aurora… I saw a message on your phone earlier when I brought you the tea. Something about a birthday party invitation. From someone named Alex?”
I lifted my head slowly and looked at him. His expression was gentle, but there was clear concern in his eyes. He wasn’t angry, just… worried.
“Yes,” I said softly, sitting up a little straighter. “I met him at the bookstore a few days ago. He seemed really nice. We talked about books for a while. He just invited me to his birthday party. It’s in four months.”
Charlie nodded slowly, processing my words. He reached over and took my hand, lacing our fingers together. “Four months is a long time. But… do you plan on going?”
