Seven

It's been a week since Aubrey's visit to the Hills family. Aubrey and Jordan grew close to each other as the days passed which was something they both liked; however, they didn't like to announce it. They would text each other all day long and they even went out a couple of times. Aubrey did her best to deny the fact that she started to feel something towards him. Unlike her, Jordan was not in denial, his whole family knew he had feelings for her, but he was doing his best to conceal whatever feeling that made its way to his heart. He always said that he was waiting for the right time to tell her, yet he never knew which time was the right one.

Jordan talked to his managers about collaborating with Aubrey and they luckily agreed. He did not want to tell her the news over the phone, so he asked her if he could drop by and of course, she said yes.

"Want something to drink?" she asked him as she guided him to the living room. Maria wasn't there, so they both had the place for themselves.

"Water would be good for now," he answered her.

"Okay." She smiled at him before making her way to the kitchen to bring him some water. She returned and sat beside him as she handed him a glass of water.

"I'm not holding you back from anything, right?" He was always cautious and caring around her.

"Not at all. I'm free," she told him as she threw her hair into a messy bun.

"I spoke to my managers about collaborating with you and they agreed." When he told her that, her smile turned into a wide grin.

        "Really!?" she exclaimed happily.

"Yes, we just need to write the song together."

"When should we start?" she wondered. Her heart was jumping in her chest out of pure joy.

"Now if you want." Her excitement made Jordan smile widely. He was in love with her spirit.

"Of course, let me grab some papers and pencils," she said, grinning like an idiot and rushing to fetch whatever they needed for writing.

They spent five hours trying to find the perfect lyrics for their first song together. Jordan could not express his happiness, he loved working with her. Although she was new in the industry, he discovered that she was very professional and took her job seriously which was something he admired about anyone.

"We can record it tomorrow," he told her when they finished writing it.

"I don't have to be at the studio tomorrow, so yeah. Tomorrow suits me," she agreed.

"Great, I will call the studio to book it," he said and went to make the call. She was quite exhausted after five hours of working, so she rested her head back against the sofa and ended up falling asleep within minutes.

When Jordan came back, he saw her asleep. Although he did not want to wake her up, he knew that it would be better if he did because she would suffer from neck pain if she stayed in that position for long.

"Bree... wake up," he murmured softly as he shook her. She was a light sleeper, so she woke up immediately.

"Sorry," she mumbled sleepily while rubbing her eyes.

"It's okay. I have to leave anyway. I just didn't want you to sleep on the couch," he told her. Exhaustion was quite obvious on her face.

"I'm really sorry for falling asleep like that." She felt embarrassed, but he did not mind at all.

"We all get tired, Bree. I will pick you up tomorrow at twelve, we can have lunch together then go to the studio," he said and she nodded. She stood up and stretched her arms.

"See you tomorrow, Dan." She smiled and pulled him into a hug since he was about to leave.

Sleepy Aubrey was Jordan's favourite Aubrey so far. She was so cute when she was sleepy and he could never get enough of her amazing hugs. By that time, Jordan had learned something new about Aubrey. She hated the word 'goodbye'; she used 'see you' instead.

After Jordan left, Aubrey went straight to her bedroom to sleep. The room reflected Aubrey's personality. The walls were coloured in a very light shade of powder pink that could be mistaken as beige. Her bed was a Sleigh one with a buttoned headboard; it was off white. The colour of her nightstands and dresser matched the bed colour. Above her bed, there was a huge frame of a music note picture. There was a colourful carpet in the middle of the room, adding a bit of a joyful look to the room.

The next day, she woke up around ten and got ready then went to the kitchen. Maria was already there making breakfast.

"I have news!" Aubrey exclaimed once she saw Maria, almost giving the poor girl a heart attack.

"Jesus Christ! Since when are you this energetic?" Maria laughed a little as she put her and over her heart.

"Today, I'm going to record a song with Jordan that we wrote together yesterday!" Aubrey's excitement could not be described.

"This is amazing! Wait—Jordan was here yesterday? What did you do?" Maria was always ready to gossip.

"We wrote the song together," Aubrey answered her with a shrug.

"And?" she asked, raising her eyebrows.

        "Nothing else."

"For God's sake, Ree! Why didn't you kiss the guy? He is totally into you," Maria whined, earning an eye roll from Aubrey.

"Are you out of your mind? "He's not into me at all," Aubrey told her, she could not see what everybody else could see. "Look, I'd love to stay and have this amazing conversation with you, but Jordan is here. See ya!" Aubrey said quickly, thankful that she was able to run away from this conversation as she was saved by the doorbell.

"You're always on time," she told him, grinning as she walked to the car with him.

"I'm quite punctual," he said with a smile on his face. Truth was, he was not that punctual, but he was only trying to impress her.

"By the way, Dan, this lunch is on me," she informed him when they got in the car.

"I told you before, Bree, a gentleman shall never let a lady pay," he repeated what he told her the first time they went out.

"It's the 21st century, and I think you should change the way you think about that matter," she said, looking at him.

"You can say that I'm old school," he insisted on his opinion.

"Fine Dan, pay for lunch, but I will pay for coffee," she said in defeat.

"Although I do not like that, I will agree with you this time."

After they had lunch together, they went to the studio and recorded the song. They sounded perfect together. Their voices harmonized together in a beautiful way.

"I love this..." Aubrey beamed as they listened to what they recorded.

"This will definitely be a hit song," the sound engineer commented.

"I can't wait until we release it," Jordan said in a proud tone.

    "Same here."

"You guys can drop it out of nowhere. It will crash the internet within an hour or less," the sound engineer, Will, said.

"I like this idea. We can discuss it with our managers. What do you think, Bree?" Jordan looked at her.

"Sounds good." She nodded her head. "You don't know how much I've enjoyed working with you." Her cheeks turned into a light shade of pink as she told him that. "I hope I wasn't a bad partner."

"Bad? You're not bad at all. You're amazing," he admitted, making her blush even more. To Jordan, Aubrey was a bright star who could captivate anyone's heart and mind. She didn't need to convince anyone that she was good, because she was much more than that. She worked hard, she had great talent, she had manners, she was beautiful; she was a masterpiece and he was slowly falling for the-blue-eyed-girl before him. He dated before, but not once did he experience the feelings Aubrey made him experience.

He wanted her so badly, yet he did not know how to win her. He was afraid of messing things up. He knew that he needed to plan everything perfectly if he wanted her. He was aware that he needed to be slow. He didn't want to rush anything, because he wanted her to be sure of her feelings towards him. He wanted her to want him as much as he wanted her; however, he did not know that she shared the same feelings.
