The second we were out of earshot, Charlie exhaled sharply, his shoulders slumping like he’d been holding his breath the entire time. "What a headache," he groaned, rubbing his jaw. "My face hurts from all the fake smiling. I think I pulled a muscle."
I barked out a laugh, the sound raw and relieved. "Same," I said, shaking out my hands like I could physically shed the tension. "I swear, if I had to listen to her yap for one more second, I was going to lose it."
