The skeleton began bubbling hard as the liquid sizzled against the dry bone structure. It bored into the marrow like acid, making the ancient cage rattle violently. The silver wires holding the ribs together began to glow red-hot under the sludge. The witch didn't stop, scooping more liquid out of the pot with rapid movements. She poured it over the arms, the spine, the legs, and the shattered pelvis. She kept on pouring it until she completely emptied the whole content of the cauldron. The skeleton was now completely submerged in a thick, boiling layer of violet sludge.

“No . . . It can’t . . . It looks . . . it looks just like . . . A wheeze hissed out between the dead man’s jaws. As they parted, an unnaturally long, black tongue slipped out and scraped the floor, dragging the head toward Emmett like a snail lugging its shell. The foul stench of corpses rose from its grinning mouth, a fresh gust rising to Emmett’s nose each time the tongue slapped the boards. He took a step back, his left hand clenching the table leg just below the right. Lifting the club with a scream, Emmett swung the weapon with enough force that the burnt skull shattered on the first blow. Emmett stood there, panting, weeping. I woke up the next day feeling cold. Marco poured a bucket of cold water on me. "Aren't you supposed to be awake by now?" He asked. I lifted my body and tried to stand up. "What do you want?" I asked and he held my wrist and pressed it. I winced in pain before he released it. "You have a package to deliver for me." He eyed me. "Why can't he send it to DHL?" I asked myself. "What package?" I asked and i got a slap in the face.

Dannika was tall, golden skinned, with green eyes and reddish brown hair. She was wearing a pair of black tights, and an olive green dressy tunic shirt. She had brown boots and brown leather fingerless gloves. “Declan, where’s my warm welcome, darling?” She turned to Declan, eyes wide and bright. “What do you want, Dannika?” Declan spat, inching closer to me. "By the way, I can tell you how you feel when you have an attack. A dense black mist rose from the mountains, and within it was a massive white skeleton that resembled a demonic entity rising from the depths of hell. The skeleton exuded a terrifying aura, while its body was shrouded in a greenish glow. Its eye sockets bore faint flickers of greenish flames, and surrounding it were ghostly apparitions. More astonishingly, the skeleton possessed the strength of a half-immortal.

That was when Sheila, off to the side, made her move, flicking a fork with effortless precision. The chopstick hit home, and Skeleton staggered back, a gaping wound in his shoulder. The tough guy everyone had their eyes on was down for the count. "Who the heck are you?!" Skeleton gasped, pain twisting his features. "Scorpion Gang. The name is Sheila," she said, summoning her trademark scorpion with a flourish. Sheila? "The leader of the Scorpion Gang, a mid-tier Lord of War!" Skeleton's face was a picture of shock that looked even worse than before.

Then Ding Hao noticed that the hand bones on the cyan-gray skeleton moved slightly. Then, something strange happened. The cyan-gray skeleton suddenly seemed to have melted. Every part of the skeleton began to glow with cyan light. The metal bones covered with rust wriggled like small milk cakes under the sun. Finally, they completely liquefied. The cyan liquid kept surging to the center.

The face she had desperately wanted to trust peeled away. Something tall and skeletal stood beneath it. Its limbs were too long. Its shoulders too narrow. Black skin clung tightly to bone, and silver eyes gleamed from deep, hollow sockets. The thing smiled again. This time there was no trace of humanity left. "Blackreach sends its regards." Its voice still sounded exactly like Kaelen's. That made it worse. Much worse. Before anyone could react, movement erupted across the mountainside. The snow around them shifted. Not because of the wind.
