Choosing A Book Novels & Stories

Sprinted to the door, I pulled it open, not expecting it to open, but it did, causing my heart to swell in joy. Ambling to the shelf, my eyes darted round the various book covers. Fiction was my favorite book to read because the best thing about reading was to be able to escape from your life, to be able to read hundreds or even thousands of other lives. Non-fiction does not have that power, it does not change you the way fiction does. To me, if you are not affected somehow, even if it is the slightest change, you are not reading the right book. I would love to think that every novel I have read has become a part of me and created who I am in a sense.

She also had this ability to debate, to defend her point of view, without belittling yours or insulting when you don't think the same way. The most recent debate was about the best books we had ever read. I told her that I couldn't pick just one, to which I added, “She's crazy, Chelsea. What person who appreciates reading can have a favorite? I denied, because it sounded like something impossible. There is a huge variety of categories. No it can not be done.

Then decide if you can judge me. I didn’t want to judge him. I only wanted insight—some understanding of how he would make this choice. Since I couldn’t ask him myself, this was the closest I could come to knowing what he would want. Clutching the book like a treasure, I fully intended to check it out. But deciding to wait for Caterina and see what she uncovered, I sat at one of the tables near the front of the library and opened it. I am a man of decision, the book began. In times of war, even a moment of hesitation can lead to death. With good warriors under my command, I would never risk it.

The title alone caught my attention, but the cover was what really drew me in. “I’ll take this one,” I murmured to myself, pulling the book off the shelf. I ran my fingers over the title, intrigued, before flipping through the pages to get a feel for it. Meanwhile, Chloe was on the other side of the bookstore, clutching the books she had chosen. She was a die-hard J.K. Rowling fan, the kind of girl who’d empty her savings just to get the next book in the Harry Potter series.

We're serving the Lycans instead. I placed the book back as it wasn't what I was looking for. The next book I picked out was just about the monarchy and how the first king came to be, quite interesting but wasn't what I was looking for at the moment. After a few more picks of boring history books, I finally found one that caught my eyes, “A CHOSEN TALE,” it resembled your old regular books but something about it was different, i couldn't tell what it was. I sat on the ground with my back pressed against the shelf and turned the first page open, “The history of the chosen one,” I whispered. Quite cryptic if you asked me.

There is so much I want to say to him. “Lilah?” Charles calls, bringing me back to earth. “Yes?” “I asked you a question.” “Oh yes, you did.” I give him a brief smile. “If I had to choose a favorite book, I would have to say—” “The Hangmen series by Tillie Cole,” Beau says before I can. I turn to face him with my eyes wide and my mouth hanging open. I can’t believe he just said that. “How did you know?”

"You don't have a particular genre of books or movies. You don't have a favourite comedian. Is there anything particular you like?" "When I say nothing in particular, it's because I watch and read anything. If it's on TV, even if it sucks, I watch it. With books, if the blurb looks catchy, I'll read it. I am not likelier to choose or drop something based on what genre or who it is. I give everything a shot. If it ends up bad, I know I won't repeat it, and if it is phenomenal, I'll keep it in mind for the future."

Or Marketing demand? I bit my lower lip, and scanned the books as well. ‘‘Uhmm… The first one. The Price strategy…’’ I found it hard to choose the options in front of me. ‘‘I need one that delves deeper into the details of the case study...’’ Julian gave a slight nod and quickly selected a book from the shelf without giving it any further consideration. ‘‘I would say that this one is pretty good. You might want to try this...’’

I said, glaring at him. “You really do enjoy ruining the moment.” “If stating facts is now considered ruining a moment…” I said, and he sighed before nodding at the shelves. “Pick one.” I frowned. “Pick what?” “A book.” I looked up at him, suspicious. “I’m allowed to choose?” “Yes.” He said casually. “I don’t know most of the books that you have here. Do you have any recommendations?” I asked, looking around as I, timidly, ran my fingers over the book covers. He smiled and hummed in response.

Welcome dudes and dudeths! I'm honestly Soo excited to start writing a book of this caliber. Apparently this is my very first Nigerian book, yup very first. I've always had the thought of writing a book that brings awareness to some of the bad things going on in our society today, practically to all teens out there in the world, and how we can change our society at large. I honestly hope my book reaches out to people out there. Some of the things this book is going to surround on would be,
