I rein in my storm of emotions and smile at Savio. “Come, let’s enjoy the engagement,” I say gracefully before I lift my dress on the left side and walk towards the open floor to face this evening with my head held up high. Daniel looks up and gives me a nod and a thankful smile. Cinderella spends two hours telling the children stories, painting the girls’ nails (and the boys if they wanted it), singing songs and playing party games. When it was time to do the cake, she exclaimed “Oh, it’s me!” we all sang ‘Happy birthday’ to Rosie and then it was time for Cinderella to go. “Please may you meet me out the back” she asks me, “yes of course, I’ll see you in a minute”.

"Cinderella and the prince lived happily ever after. They became the nicest and fairest ruler to ever live. Dreams do come true, only if you have courage and be kind. And also with a little bit of magic," Abigail said as she finished reading Lenora her bedtime story.

Moji shook her head. 'No sir. I don't like those kind of stories oo. It's not ideal for girls to read them. Cinderalla, snow white and the likes all have a problem with them. Girls don't believe in glass shoes and all that again. Prince charming? What a joke? I'd rather have a book and a pen.' She replied, demonstrating vigorously with her hands. I opened my mouth and turned to look at Dad. He was bewildered. He probably doesn't know what this little girl was capable of doing and saying.

She explained. “Then, I am in support of it.” He said. Casandra stood up and walked into the Castle and brought out a book. It was a white enchanted book. in her hand, the book started glowing. She keeps on enchanting spells. Reciting some enchanted words. The glowing light faded and she turned to them. “Done,” she said with a smile. “Are you sure?” Cynthia asked and Casandra frowned. She hated when she was being doubted.

I loved going up the staircase, so that was where my books were kept. I didn’t expect it to still be there—I was just curious what was—but I was shocked to find it fully stocked. The young adult novels still sat, but the collection had expanded to two shelves. Classics from Charlotte Brontë and Jane Austen, the entire Harry Potter series, and many others lined up together. One in particular caught my eye—La Belle et la Bête by Gabrielle-Suzanne Barbot de Villeneuve. The origin of the Beauty and the Beast fairy tale.

A month later, "Wow! The book launch will be held here?" Tasha got out of the car and stared at the grand Ace hotel. As soon as Arielle got out of the car, she froze there, a sad smile crossed her face which she quickly masked away, she didn't want to worry her friends anymore. Managing to put up a fake smile they went inside. Walking the stairs, all the memories of the ball night resurfaced in her mind, she stopped at the entrance and looked on at the stairs, so shall we join the party Cinderella? She smiled at the memory.

On entering her room, she met Grandma Elizabeth, sitting on her bed, with her leg crossed and a glass of wine in her hands. “Grandma” she called out, surprised to see her in her room. She wondered what she was doing in her room and on her bed, sipping her wine from the glass cup. “You are Cinderella Mackenzie, right? How did you and my grandson meet? I have been wondering how the both of you met” Elizabeth paused as she sipped from her wine and then continued.

You came for the record. Elara’s heart dropped. The Ledger of Cinder wasn't a vial of air. It was a book. It was the master list of every soul Korth had ever collected, containing the secret locations of where the bodies were buried and the bloodlines they left behind. If someone had that book, they could find the heirs to every fallen kingdom in the world. They could start a hundred wars with a single page. "The Prince doesn't just want Oakhaven," Elara realized, her voice trembling with anger. "He wants the world."

But this was not what Caitlin wanted: she needed to heal Scarlet, not kill her. As she finished yet another book and slid it aside, with still no mention of healing anywhere, she began to feel a sense of despair. She lifted the final book on the stack, a small, leather-bound volume with a red spine, entitled De Fascino Libri Tres by Leonardo Vairo. Caitlin summoned her knowledge of Latin, and knew that translated to: Three Books of Charms, Spells and Sorceries.
