Are you okay?” She groaned as she opened her eyes. “I’m okay, but it’s a lot of magic to use and I didn’t trust anyone to come with me to do it. Even as a queen, somethings are best kept a secret.”

Circe descended from a platform above, dressed in white, her silver hair braided into a crown. Her boots clicked against the steel staircase. She smiled. “Alma. You’ve returned. Just in time to meet your legacy.” Alma raised her weapon. “Shut it down. All of it.” Circe’s smile didn’t waver. “You misunderstand. This isn’t Eden. This is after Eden. This is Iceblood Genesis.”

“Mom, please don’t do this” I begged looking at my mother with a small twinge of hope but a laugh echoed around me as she stepped closer and I looked around the dark room I was in. “Don’t fucking call me that Amara” he voice spat my name out with a venom coating as she stepped closer, some of the darkness in the room now falling behind her as she looks down at me. “You’re allowed to call me Circe, remember” she said the words slowly being enunciated one word at a time as she spoke to me leaning down a bit as she stared at me in dugust.

I headed towards the older woman. "Thanks for this, what's your name," I asked her as I lifted the handkerchief and smiled when she said,"I'm Circe and a Meliae or Ash tree nymph, dear. They caught me in Yellowstone, damn humans." I was smiling and told her I was one of those damn humans recently and she nodded.

"The how does not matter. Just leave, so I might erect the house defenses." Despite the fact that her feet didn't move, Toni and the guys found themselves standing by the front door. Circe had followed them, her milky-white orbs glowing with a blue radiance that highlighted her statically charged, floating hair. "Thank you for the refreshments," Marc said as he yanked on the knob. A tiny smile crossed Circe's lips. "Thank you for your courtesy, sir wolf. It's nice to finally meet a Lycan with manners. You may call on me again."

“Avi? Avi what is it?” She pressed a hand to her temple. The whisper wasn’t loud, but it was clear. A name. Spoken in the Circle’s many-layered voice. Ancient. Certain. Pulling at her like a hook beneath her ribs. “Sereth.” Avi gasped. “Cain… it’s saying a name.” Cain’s expression sharpened. “The Circle?” She nodded. “What name?” She swallowed hard, throat tight. “Sereth.” Cain went still. Completely. Utterly. Still.
