He was just standing in the sunlight, and Ravi squinted as he saw something gleaming in the man's hand. Ravi focused his vision further to ensure that the object the man held wasn't what he thought it was. The man's hand moved, still gazing, and Ravi's eyes widened when he could see clearly. Ravi froze, subconsciously gripping Raymond's wrist tightly. He saw a shimmering sword smeared with red liquid that was undoubtedly blood. But it didn't end there. Ravi froze further without realizing it, tightening his hold on Raymond's wrist as he observed the man's wings, which were white and almost identical to Raymond's. The wings flapped, and he flew away somewhere.

Not grief dressed up as strength. Just her. The actual her. Present and unguarded and entirely real. The clip ended. Helena did not say anything. She did not move. The city moved below them. The wind came off the water. Somewhere behind them a door opened and closed. She kept looking at the monitor long after the screen had gone dark.

A slender, wet arm reached out, but as she shifted her weight, her foot hit a slick patch of tile. "Oh—!" Martins reacted before she could hit the floor. He lunged forward, catching the door and reaching into the spray. His large, calloused hand clamped around her damp waist, his fingers sinking into the soft, yielding flesh of her ass. Helena gasped, her slick body colliding with his chest. She was dripping, her skin radiating a feverish heat that seeped right through his clothes. She looked up at him, her dark hair plastered to her neck, her eyelashes spiked with water. She was completely, breathtakingly bare.

Only a few dozen leaves that looked not as condensed went straight for Helena. “Sh*t. How can I evade so many leaves?” These leaves traveled speedily and soon covered a huge area like strands of light. Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh! The leaves flew past in a flash. Helena flew left and right, hoping to evade the attack, yet several still got to her. Several cuts appeared on Helena’s sleeves, and with that, fresh blood slowly seeped through the wounds unsightly. The worst part was that the area above her chest was also hit by a leaf. Her clothes were also cut open and blood trickled down from the wound.

“Why are you overreacting when you don’t want her, Alpha?” I launched at him again, and this time, aiming at his neck. “Don’t make excuses for your r*pe’s attempt, Elmer.
