I gasped, my eyes widening in pure horror as I tried to grab it back. She held the book high above her head, her eyes scanning the page I was just reading. She gasped dramatically, placing a hand over her heart while laughing uncontrollably. "How are you sitting here reading about a man taking a woman against the headboard and still acting normal, Claire? Look at your cheeks! You're literally glowing red!" "Give it back!" I whined, my hands covering my flustered face as I sank back into the chair. "It's just a romance story I found on the shelf.”

Chapter 12 – The Depth Below The train screamed into the dark, a long metallic wail swallowed by the storm. Clara clung to the ladder of the freight car, wind tearing at her hair, the flash drive clutched tight in her palm. Beside her, Rowen’s breathing was shallow, her wounded side pressed against the metal, eyes half-lidded but burning with defiance. Below them, the world blurred into streaks of silver and black. The rain came harder, cold and unrelenting, washing soot and blood from their faces.

When I opened my eyes again, the fog had stopped advancing. For the first time, it seemed to hesitate as if listening. Good, I thought. Listen. Because when it moved again, I’d be ready to burn it to ash. Clara POV The cliffs bled red beneath the moon. From my camp I could see the valley wrapped in fog, thick as silk, curling through the forest like a sleeping beast. Every breath of wind smelled of salt, fire, and power. At least, that was what I kept telling myself. Varyn approached, his cloak heavy with dew.

“Oh no. A Rhys Surprise special. You know how those usually end up.” “A mess,” Toby glared at the guy-in-question. “A chaotic mess, which typically involves blood, vomit, shit, or, when he’s feeling a little bit too gleeful, semen.” Rhys shrugged, smirking complacently at the description. “My only regret is that I couldn’t weave that last one into what I have planned, but it’s going to be good. I promise.” The Irons heir only reached over and stole the joint from Arthur’s fingers, taking a hit himself. “At this point, I don’t care who gets all the way through. I’m just so fucking ready to be done with this place.”

The moment Clara walked out of the hall room, Crystal took a step back as she felt her body would collapse anytime since she used way too much power of her body on the alpha book. Only the Alphas can stand on their feet after using the Alpha book as they got enough power for it but Crystal, she feels like she'll go unconscious anytime. Her legs had turned into jelly, but suddenly a strong hand sneaked around her waist and held her tightly before pulling her into the hard chest.

And all of them were coming for us. For the realm. For me. “HOLD!” I shouted, lifting my palm high into the air. My voice cracked through the storm like a sword through silence. Warriors along the front line—Highland wolves in black steel, forest clans in bark-etched leather, humans clutching blessed rifles—braced. Behind us, the wolves howled. One long, united sound of fury and promise. And then— I let the storm go. Lightning erupted from my fingers, searing the sky open in a white-hot arc. It coiled like a living whip, smashing into the first line of wraith riders—and they didn’t fall. They exploded.
