*** THE night was still young, they agreed to go to her favorite coffee shop near their old university. The coffee shop is not that full, because apart from it being on weekdays, only a few students are studying at the shop at the moment. She ordered her usual coffee, and so did Paolo. Iced Americano. They sat at the center of the shop, not her usual spot because someone was sitting there already. She was the one facing the shop's door, she could see who was coming in or out.

He chose a table in the corner. Away from the windows. Away from the door. He ordered black coffee. No sugar. No milk. He sat with his back to the wall. Watched the entrance. Sofia walked in at exactly two o’clock. She wore a simple gray coat. Her hair was pulled back. Her face looked tired but calm. She saw him right away. Walked over. Sat across from him.

I don’t want to give Darlene a hard time, she’s too young for that. “Why not talk to him, and ask him what he wants, you go tell him that you’re already taken and your boyfriend might get a wrong idea if he learned what he’s doing.” This is really stressing me out. I looked around inside the coffee shop to relax my eyes a bit. You can see green and white painted walls and different kinds of plants everywhere and on the top of every table, on the right side of the entrance there are mini fountains, and on the left side there are sofas and mini libraries.

I burst out laughing. “For the lady, a decaf cappuccino with whip cream, and filter coffee for me.” I put in our order. “I need your help with something, and I know you know something or rather have something against the Cooper family, especially Mark Cooper.” He didn’t look surprised; he just smiled and set his gaze back while looking at me.

Jacobs asked me. “I-I’ll just have what you order too…” He smiled. “Okay, then we would like to have two Pecan pies and two super Tuscan espressos.” “Two Pecan pie and Super Tuscan espresso, anything more, Sir?” “That’s all.” The server finally left and so Mr. Jacobs took out the chessboard inside the drawer of our table. The interior of the shop was completely chess-like. All the chairs look like pieces of chess and the floor was tiled with black and white. “This coffee shop looks really amazing, isn’t it?” Mr. Jacobs spoke again.
