Gold-plated, with a black mother-of-pearl grip, it looked like a piece of art, but it packed a deadly punch. Elara looked up. Those deep gray eyes in front of her were bottomless. The adrenaline faded, and the exhaustion and fear hit her like a wave. He understood her. Nothing made her feel safer than having power. Julian picked up the gun, smoothly racked the slide, and then shoved the cold grip into Elara's hand.
