Jaxon said, smirking. Roxanne defended her movie choices, "They aren't sappy! You're just weird. I mean, who doesn't like romantic comedies?" Jaxon shrugged, "Me. I'll tell you over and over again, I don't like them. I prefer horror or maybe romance." Roxanne teased, "Gosh, you're just weird." She plopped down beside him, and Jaxon pulled her closer. Roxanne took the remote and said, "Ok, let's watch Friends with Benefits. I'm sure you'll like this one."

Then my fingers dip in, searching for something to ease the tension in the room. "Do you like romance?" I ask, raising one above my head. It is only when I have asked him that I think about how the question might sound to him. Come on! He isn't smiling when he says, "What a cliché. Rom coms always seem to have the same stories with nothing fancy, nothing real. Give me something real, please."

I say with a grin, “the movie’s about to start. You don’t want to miss it.” She glances at the screen, then back at me, a playful glint in her eyes. “Is this one of those cheesy rom-coms?” she teases, but there’s no real bite in her words. She’s just trying to play along, to keep things light. I chuckle, shaking my head. “It’s not cheesy. It’s... endearing.” “The title is ‘Much a do about love’. You hate rom-coms.” “It’s endearing, stop questioning me.”

But as we started chatting and sipping our drinks, all my worries disappeared. "So, what's your favorite movie?" He asked me. I looked at me, a mischievous twinkle in my eye. "Oh, you know, just your typical romantic comedy. Something with a happy ending." He grinned. "Ah, so you're a sucker for a good love story?" I shrugged, a coy smile playing at the corners of my lips. "Maybe. Or maybe I just like seeing two people overcome all the odds and fall in love." He nodded, taking a sip of his drink. "I hear ya. There's nothing quite like a good rom-com to make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside."

She aggressively shook her head in denial. "Then…. comedy?" He questioned. Kaya sighed. When would his head step a bit forward? Zian also waited for her answer, but he got none. He gave her a brief glance before grinning. "So it's romance with a bit of naughtiness, Miss Haiden," he smirked, widening her eyes. Her cheeks tinted more. A chortle escaped from his mouth. "So it's romance which Miss Haiden prefers over everything," he teased her more. She just blushed cutely. How could he understand her so easily? She was still wondering about it.

The couch looked ridiculously inviting, covered in throw pillows and soft blankets. I loosened my tie and sank into it, feeling something inside me finally exhale. “I’ll get changed into pajamas, you pick the movie,” she called over her shoulder, tossing me the remote. “Wow, I get to pick the restaurant and the movie?” I teased. “That’s right,” she laughed from down the hall. “Don’t mess it up!” I grinned and started scrolling. Rom-coms? Too obvious. Horror? Too calculated. Maybe a comedy. Something light. Something that wouldn’t press too hard against the fragile thing growing between us.

odd. “What kind of movie do you like?” he asks, setting it down. “Anything,” I answer. “Romance? I’m sure.” “Yes.” “Typical.” I raise a brow. “Is there anything wrong with romance?” “Yes. It gives women a twisted idea of what life should be. Happily ever after, perfect guy, perfect life, blah, blah, blah.” “You’re just bitter,” I say flatly. “I’m not bitter.” He smirks. “I’m the devil.”

I think I might even owe Alessia an apology. If only I had listened, all that wouldn't have happened. "Hey! You got any more of those romcom books of yours?" I questioned when I realized she was about to continue on her way but since I didn't want her to leave just yet, I had to come up with something. "What's a romcom?" She questioned in all sincerity but i looked passed it and glared at her like she had just asked me the dumbest question ever. "Uhhh.... Romantic Comedy." I explained in response when I realized she actually meant her question.

His eyes glimmered as he seemed to realize something. He asked, "What's the matter? You don't like me reading the comics you drew?" "I draw... romance comics for women. Men like you probably won't enjoy them. You don't have to force yourself to read the comics I drew," she said lamely. "I'm not exactly being forced to read them. I watch some romantic films too. I don't mind reading such comics. Besides, we need to get to know each other better," he said.

"Really? You'd watch a rom-com with me?" "Don't get used to it," he warned, but he couldn't help smiling at her enthusiasm. "This is a one-time deal." They scrolled through the options, arguing over each title until they settled on a classic romantic comedy. As the opening credits rolled, the familiar scent of her shampoo wafted over him, mingling with the crisp smell of beer. His senses became hyper-aware of her presence beside him.
