My dragon roared in denial, but the rest of me, the part I kept locked down, shivered.
Elias stepped closer, voice a rumble I’d never heard from him before. “Lies. All of it. He twists truth to break you.”
Lucien’s fingers brushed mine, cool but firm, shadows curling between our hands. “He wants you afraid. Don’t give him the satisfaction.”
Caelum growled so hard the arena floor shook, ready to launch himself at the man. “Say another word and I’ll rip your fucking throat out.”
But the commander only laughed, a hollow, cruel sound that made my stomach flip. His eyes glowed brighter, locked on me. “You can burn all you like, little dragon. In the end, your fire belongs to us.”
