I wanted so much to say it out loud to him. Cornelius or Connor was the type of man I wanted to stay away from. To be clear, Connor might have had the looks, the lush brown hair, the dimple I had noticed he had today, the sharp jawline, the lickable body but still he was a player. The man who looks like one in his mid-forties and who earlier wailed asks glaring at Lucien. Lucien chuckles and wipes the drop of spittle and blood on his fists without saying anything. "Ain't you the one I'm talking to!" The man charges toward him and grabs him on the collar. "Don't you fucking speak?" Lucien glances up and stares into his eyes. "If you don't get your hand off my collar right now Connor, consider yourself out of my company." Mr. Corbin Connor is the current general manager of Shadow worldwide company. And supposedly a worker of Lucien the man he is holding his collar and glaring at.

Sofia is also attending with Connor because they should have a say in their future. As we follow the waitress to the private room with a large table where Connor sits with an older man whose ginger and white hair and beard indicate his Mac, Connor’s dad. The guy sitting next to Mac looks very similar to Connor but with a longer face. I assume that’s Conall, Connor’s older brother who will be taking over as leader when Mac either dies or passes it off to him. The four of us take our seats. Sofia is seated next to Connor. I’m on her other side and Violetta is sandwiched between Nico and I just the way we like it.

“I don’t think that’s true. He just liked my essay.” Connor smirked, pushing his fries around. “He doesn’t like anyone’s essays, so that’s basically a miracle.” I shrugged, feeling my cheeks warm. “I just write too much. I can’t help it.” “Same,” Connor said. “Except my essays usually end up looking like I’m angry at the world.” Ethan snorted. “You are angry at the world.” Liam leaned back in his chair, chuckling. “Nah, he just hides it behind sarcasm.”

Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, James Cameron… They weren’t anywhere to be seen, thank goodness, or my inner geek would have come out in a truly mortifying display. Connor had one of the most alluring auras I had ever felt radiate off a person. His hair was of a light brown colour and so were his beards which were always well groomed on his face. His eyes were forest green and his nose was perfectly structured. He was taller than I was by a few inches and he always smelled fresh and inviting. I was going to be the one to do it one way or the other, I needed to play this game. The door opened without warning, and I quickly slipped back into character, fragile, sweet, grateful.
