Don't be a jerk," She said to me before she finally left my room, and I released a deep sigh. My name is Connor Hughes, thirty-five years old first live-in son of the popular multi-billionaire in LA, Mr. Derek Hughes. Being the first son of the family, you can imagine the burden on me, right? I'm a depressed man hiding under the cover of being a billionaire. I am broken inside, and trying to heal from the pain of years ago that has turned me into a bitter man up until now.

I only managed to nod and watch him walk towards the door where Devin stood with a grimace on his face. Oh no. Knox smirked at Devin mockingly. 'Just go,' I silently wished. They're like two beasts ready to bite each other's neck off if one makes a move. “Nice meeting you,” Knox offered his hand, “I'm Knox Collins.” “I don't care,” Devin growled. “Griff,” I whispered to my son who was looking up at the two huge figures in front of him. I rolled my eyes and shouted in his ear, "Her heart is perfectly fine!" Too bad he could not hear me. The doctor froze, seemingly perplexed by that, but replied, "Ms. Clark's heart didn't seem to be affected by the incident." A smile finally broke out over Connor's face. "Thank you, Dr. Wilson." He shook hands with the doctor and bade him goodbye. I followed Connor into the room. That was my first time scrutinizing Connor up close. He was a finance consultant and earned a fierce reputation as Hawk-Eye and a steady fanbase due to his astute predictions.

They quickly look around at each other and they give each other knowing looks. “You’ve been outvoted. He’s joining us”, Michelle says proudly. “Firstly, what’s your name and what is your link to Mr. Strongheart”. He pulls up to the seat next to me and starts addressing the group. “My name is Connor, and I work in his security team. My specialty is surveillance and intelligence, so I scope out and gather information to ensure the safety of the team”. Kimberly and Michelle are currently swooning over his words and batting their eyelashes for attention. Willow seems to be deep in thought and analysing his words.

I wrapped both of my hands around my warm ceramic mug, allowing the pleasant heat to soothe my cold fingers, and took a slow sip of the sweet caramel drink. Connor took a large swallow of his dark black coffee, set his mug down on the wooden table, and pushed the small plate holding the blueberry muffin toward the center of the table so we could share the food. He broke a piece of the soft pastry off with his fingers and ate it slowly and leaned forward so he could speak to me quietly without raising his voice. "I am going to be completely honest with you, Megan, because I do not want any misunderstandings or lies between us," Connor began, his deep voice sounding incredibly serious.

I hesitated “Do you know who was in his contact list at the time this happened?” "The same man they mentioned the day he was admitted. Someone named Ferris Murphy, the former agent he seems to have a grudge against." Isla murmured, leaning even closer to me "Don't be mad at me, but I was curious and did some research. Apparently, Murphy is now an art curator and has several galleries across the country. Not only is he famous in the art world, but so is Clyde. They had a partnership that lasted for years, but I can't find out exactly why they broke up. Did Clyde mention anything to you?"

He didn't expect Connor to be more active in drinking. Connor was depressed and he could not tell others. He was also very clear about the relationship between the Harper family and the Murphy family. Although the strength of the Harper family was inferior to the Murphy family, their relationship was very strong. In fact, they were even close friends. The elders of the Murphy family have known Callum for his whole life. They seemed to be planning a blind date tonight and that woman also came as they expected.
