I needed to see it for myself before I jumped to conclusions, not that it mattered much now. It didn’t take me long to find the contract. It was sealed in a large yellow envelope. I unwrapped the string and slid the papers out, scattering them across the desk. My breath hitched painfully when I saw it. There it was. Written clearly on the fourth page of the contract, slipped in amongst the other clauses. “Upon being marked by Alpha Dominic, I understand that my symptoms will improve only for each day we stand together. Any breach of contract will result in immediate regression of symptoms. I understand that only Alpha Dominic may decide when the contract will officially terminate.”

The computer fired up. I grabbed a pen and notepad and began writing down every interesting thing that I came across. Most of it was experimental data and files that were more recent than the binders that she had shown me. But then I saw another document that caught my attention. It said 'Alpha King Agreement' on the folder and I couldn't help but click it. A contract or agreement of sorts popped up on the screen and I was shocked. I knew that the Alpha King must have known or realized that he was not my real father, but to actually make a deal with the devil was much lower than I expected for him.

A male voice called from behind me. I turned to face a stranger—an Alpha I didn’t recognize. He was young, likely one of the newer members. Some packs saw frequent shifts in leadership due to power struggles, and it seemed he had recently risen to power. “Hello.” I greeted him with a polite smile. Chapter 14 - She’s Identified Alpha Maxton arrived at the King’s Palace of the Northern Packs, and was greeted by Alpha King Janoer, a tall, broad shouldered man in his early thirties, with jet-black hair cut short on the sides and left slightly longer on top. His clean shaven jaw was strong, and his piercing blue eyes, framed by dark brows, held both authority and intelligence. He wore a tailored black suit with a crisp white shirt, the silver emblem of the Northern Pack was a howling wolf against a mountain backdrop, pinned to his lapel.

“I’ll make them pay for everything they’ve done.” Marcus brought a contract. "Alpha Logan has long known that Miss Anne does not like him, but for the interests of both countries, he has no choice. This is the contract brought by Alpha Logan. It lasts for three years." I raised an eyebrow, intrigued. “Three years?” “Yes,” Marcus replied firmly.
