Manual access — code Delta-Seven!” The Core’s surface shimmered faintly. “Voice pattern recognized… but incomplete.” “Incomplete?” His eyes widened. “You need both of us, don’t you?”

The air at Level 99 was thick enough to chew. It didn't smell like the antiseptic scent of the upper floors; instead, it carried the odors of ancient minerals, frozen nitrogen, and a metallic tang that felt like high-voltage blood. The ice cathedral was immense, with a ceiling lost in a swirling mix of frost and violet static. At its center sat the Core-Prime, an obsidian heart the size of a siege tank, wrapped in a web of silver filaments resembling a nervous system.

Main processing cluster three levels below. She will not like you in there.” Lys stepped up to the panel. Her palm hovered over the interface.
