"Coterie?" He walked over and motioned for me to go to the shower room while he made the bed. She moved effortlessly to the bedside and began tugging every edge of the sheet-like a pro. It's like a sophisticated king's handmaiden who understands what she's doing. "Stella, go! I will handle this." He was taken aback when he learned I was watching what he was doing. I was forced into the shower room and took off my blanket. Then Isabel began to educate me on a certain coterie. I could hear her voice from where I was showering.

"Or we would never have made it past the lobby door." Okay then. Happy thoughts. I glanced to the right, at the elaborate sign and logo hanging over the reception desk. Coterie Industries sprawled across the wall, a C and I interlaced with a globe. I'd have to dig out a dictionary later, but I was pretty sure "coterie" was just another way to say "brotherhood".

I thought she wouldn't answer my question, but perhaps she assumed we had developed some type of trust from the two days we knew each other, one of those days spent walking around a mall without a productive conversation. The group preferred to stay in the shadows but had control over even the president. No important decision was made without their approval.
