“Do you hate me this much?” Raw grief washed over me and the stone in my throat tightened like a noose around my neck cutting off my air supply. “I can’t…I can’t live without you. Don’t you get it? You are my fire, my storm. I lost you once and I can’t…I can’t do it again.”

Franklin sprang to his feet. “I can’t,” he blurted, voice rough. “Everything around me reminds me of you. Your laugh is part of me. Your voice keeps me going. Don’t take that away. Don’t leave me, honey. I can’t see myself without you.”

“What would I do without you?” I grinned, holding both my girls close. “Well,” I said, giving her a small shrug, “you don’t have to find out.”

I couldn’t let him think there wasn’t any hope left for us. Truth was I didn’t want to do life without him.

"Please do something. " I lost.

A small smile twitched on his lips and heat scorched to my cheeks, “You like me, right?” I nodded, “I don’t know how I thought I could be okay without you. But when I saw you hurt…” I took a deep breath and swallowed the lump that formed in my throat when I remembered the scene again, “I thought I lost you." A quiet sob escaped my throat. "And that thought made my heart stop for a moment. Then I realised, I can’t live without you.”
