I felt envious of Cain and Daniel's vantage points from the window seat. The city was bustling with people, despite the heat that was blistering down on them from the early afternoon sun. My parents, of course, rushed over as they were always anxious to have good standing within the pack. A few days later, Lucy got a group of us together for a day trip outside the pack to Sand Bar State Park, a beach on the shore of Lake Champlain. Lucy’s older brothers, Jack and Kyle, helped us load beach chairs and coolers into their SUVs. Two of our friends from high school, Emma and Madison, arrived with large containers of food.

Nix and I walked carefully towards the door and once we reached the knob, we slightly opened it and crane our necks to see who it was. The person who knocked furrowed her brows at us and crossed her arms in annoyance. “Mua!?” I exclaimed. “Goodness, welcome back!” Nix let out a chuckle, relieved to know that the odd scent was Mua. “Here we thought that the ocean was close to our house.” Mua smirked and handed me a bottle with a letter inside. “We just got off the ship and I hope you haven’t forgotten that tomorrow at midnight will be the Sumoon,” Mua said.

“Baby this is Chance, he’s a Shadow Warrior and he’s going to take you to see Zach,” Ridge said, leading me outside to a yard. Obviously my mate was the sexiest thing I’d ever seen … but this guy … was … exotic? He was tall, clean shaven head. He was dark tanned almost golden, his eyes were almost … purple. One of the positive things being appreciating that Kyle is here for me. He has really helped me out. And he knows how to take my mind off things. He helps me focus on the positive.

The gates fell soon after. There was a mad rush to enter the city of Muzagah and destroy every living human. Having being in suspense for hours; anticipating and visualizing what they desired: the rape and the sharing of treasures; they drove in furiously into Muzagah with the intention to kill and destroy properties. Suddenly, the sound of a trumpet filled their ears. It was a signal to stop. Prince Habeb had ordered a trumpeter to send the desperate soldiers his message.
