Jasper dreamed that he was back in the gorge. He was crying. It was the day his cricket vanished. He placed his hand back into the nest, turning over each and every leaf, dismantling the home that he had dedicated hours into constructing. He then felt his hands run over all the walls, feeling every jagged protrusion push into his palm, with nothing coming loose, nor fluttering off. He then forced his body deeper into the holes of the gorge walls, squeezing his limbs through, holding his breath, cutting his skin, and sobbing tears down wherever he went, as if he was trying to make his crawl, into the darkness any easier. He found nothing.
