But I scream, trying to grab on as the ground beneath me suddenly gives way. My breath gets stuck in my throat, and I try to grab onto anything I can find, slicing my fingers as I tumble down the cliff, but everything breaks, and a thousand blades, shredding my skin are the last things I feel as I plunge into the icy water below before my lights

I touched and felt the texture of the beast under human skin. "You’re losing, Lancelot," I whispered to myself. The dawn continued long. Every time I tried to take a deep breath, the air came out like a low roar. The whole body was pulsing, skin itching, as if it wanted to break from the inside out. I knew what followed.
