My heart wanted to escape my chest and my mind screamed for me to run. Suddenly, I felt something burning within my veins. I looked at my arm. Three ragged lines snagged some of my flesh. Air pushed against the wall of my lungs. My skin itched, especially on the scratched area, but I could not resist it—the itch was maddening. My clothes stretched out every fiber until they could not bear the pressure any longer. I instinctively ripped the remaining piece of cloth restraining my body. I roared up to the limit of my lungs. I could have sworn it was not mine. What is happening to me?

I replied as I tried to breathe through what I was experiencing. “I think your body is trying to shift,” he shared, as he held tightly onto my body. “I do not think I can make it,” I whispered, as I started to feel something moving underneath my skin. It was creeping me out and I started to scratch at my skin, chasing the moving object.

Skin the color of water left too long in a bowl: thin, gray, stretched - Eyes black from lid to lid, glossy and hungry. Three more unpeeled themselves from the shadows behind it: one climbing down a trunk like a spider; one stepping backward out of a tree as if the bark were a curtain; one crouched low, fingers dug into the soil. “Stay,” she whispered to Umbra. He answered with a growl so low it felt like it rattled her ribs. The foremost creature tilted its head. “You called,” it said. “I didn’t,” she said. “Yessss…” another answered from her left, voice wet and amused. “Glasss and blood and windowssss… crying. You ssssang. We heard.”

I hear something that sounds like … scratching. “No,” I whisper, imagining that whatever that stone is keeping inside is trying to get out. It’s trying to claw through it. It wants to get at me, I just know it. My feet keep moving backwards though my entire body is violently shaking. What have I done? Did I awaken… something?

Then I heard the scathing voice again, it sent goose bumps all over my body just hearing the words come out of the wind. Made me feel like worms were crawling under my skin and I began to panic and yell and scratch my skin. “Get them off me, get them off me!” I yelled. A small crowd had started to gather at this point. It was like I could see them but could not at the same time. I was seeing the marketplace out of one eye but out of the other, there was a dust storm as well as the rotting face fading in and out of it. “Get away from me!” I cried in a shrill voice and curled myself up in a ball.

It's got this animal quality to it, this howl underneath the scream. My spine's arching, vertebrae popping one by one like someone's walking up my back and stepping on each bone. My hands are cramping, fingers curling, nails thickening and darkening into claws. I watch in horror as fur starts sprouting from my skin. Gray and white, spreading up my arms. My jaw dislocates. I feel it unhinge with this wet popping sound that makes me want to vomit. My teeth are falling out, clattering onto the hardwood floor. New teeth grow in to replace them. Longer. Sharper. Wrong.

Whatever my mother warned me of in her letters was no doubt surfacing. The thoughts were not clean off my mind, when my ankles twisted on their own. “ Oh no! Ahhh!” I try to control my breathing, dragging my body uphill to my mother's grave side. The twists came often, cracks and snaps. I felt torn and dismembered slowly. My wail shot into the air, echoing across rough terrains and mountain slopes. “ Mother help me…please, mother.” I cried upon seeing the white mated furs emerging on my skin, claws breaking out in the place of my nails, tearing skin after skin, until I slowly grew numb. Then came the familiar husky behind me.

Goosebumps appear on my skin and disgust fills me up. I can’t do this, I can’t let him keep touching me like that. My skin crawls with disgust, as I feel his hand on my lower stomach. I hold back the urge to vomit as I begin to struggle to get out of the chair. I attempt to force my hand out of the ropes. Right now I don’t care if my waist gets bruised or not, all I care about is getting my hands free so I can punch the hell out of this son of a bitch. He smirks at my struggle and uses his thumb to crease my cheek.

Spiders crawling on my skin. Her grin spread wider like a Cheshire cat’s. “Can you kick her out? The maid. I don’t like her.”

🎶 so I peel my skin, and I count my sins, and I close my eyes, and I take it in. I'm bleeding out, I bleed out for you 🎶 BLEEDING OUT- IMAGINE DRAGONS. Another morning and I'm still finding it difficult to get out of bed. This nausea and fever is really getting to me. Tossing and turning on the bed, trying to find a comfortable side but all efforts proved futile. To my luck, school was cancelled today.
