“Lucien!” I slammed the coffee table, breaking it in two without even feeling the action being executed. I watched as the food slowly came together, mixing solid and liquid in the center. Suddenly, everything returned to normal. I looked intensely at my hands, astonished by such power. Trembling, I tried fervently to push away the fear, as it was an endless source of obstacles. Desperately wanting to feel that again, I advanced and stood in front of the large mirror by the exit. “Wolf, do you want to bring your human back safe and sound? Rise, come, let’s claim him, protect him.”

"This place was ... was ... already here!" "Exactly. Once I realized that, I began working on the maze." Mike grabbed her hips, massaging them as her whole body tensed up. The soft sounds she'd made. The warmth of her skin. I swallowed hard. This obsession was dangerous. I needed distance before it consumed me. I picked up my phone. I knew I had women contacts who were available. Simple, no-strings distractions. My thumb hovered over Amelia-someone I'd casually seen months ago. It was easy, physical, and uncomplicated.

She knew that popping his knee back into place was going to be excruciatingly painful for him so she made the quick decision to distract him while she did. She decided she pop it back into place as easily as she popped it out, which would allow her the ability to distract him in the few seconds it would take for her to do it.
