“One rule. You run, you die. You fight, you bleed. You obey… maybe you breathe.” Door closes. Click. I stand alone. Cheek on fire. Blood taste in my mouth. The contract lies on the floor like a dead thing. My name on it. The blood smell sticks to my nose, will not let go. My hands shake so bad that I press them hard against the wall. Cold wood. Real. Solid. The only real thing left. Dacha. Chain. Obey. I scream inside my head. Loud. Raw. But no sound comes out.

The wind screamed through crumbling arches like the wail of a thousand ghosts. Beside her, Damon stood: silent, bruised, blood seeping from a gash at his temple. They had survived the unthinkable. Together, they had faced betrayal, war, and near-death. But this moment, this decision cut deeper than any blade. Before them loomed the Last Oathkeeper. His ceremonial crimson robes shimmered with rain, his gaunt face pale as bone. Eyes like dark glass stared through time itself. His voice, when it came, cracked like the sky:

“Damien.” He wiped it with the back of his hand. “I’m fine.” “If you say that one more time, I’m going to haunt you before this house gets the chance.” His mouth twitched. Then pain cut across his face. He gripped the edge of the cradle. The room sharpened around us. “What can you tell me without it hurting you?” I asked. His breathing steadied slowly. “That the oath was made by my bloodline after the Frost queens were buried.”

“Speak the last vow.” She inhaled and declared: “We are Crimson Moon, three hearts, one beat.” I raised her hand; she raised mine. And I watched: The Dawn council had finished. The covenant was made. But peace, true peace was only just beginning.

I answered unwaveringly. "Okay" Crimson walked towards Tryamon, she stretched out her hands for a handshake "my name is Crimson, Aethelfrith's betrothed" Tyramon's phone fell from her hands, her eyes widened but she managed to compose herself quickly. "Aethelfrith betrothed?" Tyramon asked, looking unsure of what she heard. "Yes, you heard right" Crimson smiled, "my hands are still on the air" "Oh my, forgive my bad manners" Tyramon forced a smile, reaching out to shake Crimson's hand.

A low hum came from her throat before she spoke again. “Innocence. You have taken it.” Her face turned into a satisfied smile before her body straightened. Her eyes grew wide and her lips began to move rapidly, like someone had changed the speed, making her mouth not match up with the words the voices were saying. “Crimson approaches and the redeemer is near. A union of great for all to hear. Crimson approaches , yet again. A guardian will meet their end. Only then can the ash rise. When blood spills, the omnipotent cry will be touched by all. Only then can the emerald truly see.”

"And the rats?" "Weed them out and burn them alive." I seethed before hanging up the phone. I despise disloyalty, especially under my reign. Not only is it distasteful, mannerless, and a hassle. It's not a good look for a Mafia King. It's dishonoring the Crimson Oath, a bond of brotherhood. Breaking the Crimson Oath is turning your back on your brothers. "Could this night get any worse?" "I see King has found himself a girl, but is she fit to be Queen?" That answers that question.

I tried to speak, to deny it, but I couldn’t find my voice. They forced me to kneel. The dagger was cold as they dragged it across my palm, as they had done since I was a boy.
