Alexander held. Eva’s gaze stayed locked on the intermediary. “What do you want?” The man sighed as if she were exhausting him. “We want what Cross Enterprises hides. Vendor networks. Off-book channels. The maps of where money moves quietly.” Eva’s voice was razor sharp. “And if you don’t get it?” The intermediary’s smile softened into something colder. “Then the next time someone disappears, it won’t be you.” Eva swallowed hard, then said, calmly, “You’re the one funding this.”

I told him gripping tighter. We stopped in front of the huge fire eating up the trees covering the large tract. The fire bringing such a huge distraction looked like it’s speaking death to anyone who’s gonna run though it but I can’t feel it’s heat. Angelo walked in it like a god of fire. It doesn’t even touch his skin as he calmly walked on it. He stopped to look at me, offering his hand. The fire’s light made Angelo look different. It is reflected to his eyes making it look like burning too.

**Chapter: A Distant Echo** Lisa was sitting on the terrace of Ace’s mansion, sipping on her coffee as the early morning sun painted the sky in hues of pink and orange. It was one of those rare peaceful moments they had these days, a brief respite from the chaos that seemed to follow them. She glanced over at Ace, who was leaning against the railing, lost in thought. He had been distant lately, more so than usual, and Lisa couldn’t help but worry.

My wolf jumped up in excitement and I had to frown a little. Why on earth is she suddenly interested in the Lycans? Taking in a very deep breath and releasing it, I crossed the road. Well here goes nothing. After crossing the road, I waited for a few moments to see if I could notice any sign of life, but nothing at all. The street was a little dark and lonely, but I could tell that the Lycans still lived here from the smell that filled the room. So, I would not say it was that lonely at all.

I stepped into it, and in the mirror, I didn’t see the girl chasing Nathan Cross. I saw the woman standing beside him. The price? $24,500. I didn’t blink. I walked to the counter, head high. The clerk didn’t bother hiding her skepticism—her eyes dipped to my sandals, then flicked to my face. “I’ll take it,” I said. Her smile stretched. Fake. Patronizing. “Mr. Cross must approve all charges. Surely you understand.” I didn’t flinch. Just slid the Centurion card across the counter. Aeternum Cross. My name—Lana Reyes—engraved in silver.

Something dangerous. Something that could destroy them all.

“Come on, I can smell your nervousness. Relax they’ll love you.” Ace says as he took her hand and placed it inside of his pockets. She smiled as she nodded. Relaxing with his touch. They walked into this large home, Runa was shocked it was bigger than Aces. A tall lady with blonde hair came from the corner and a male with a very daring appearance appeared. “Mom, dad, meet Runa my Luna.” Ace said as he kissed the back of her hand and smirked.

Deanna said as she tried to think but was drawing a blank on any name. “I was being serious.” He said with a grin, “Sweetheart, I don’t care about her name.” “Max, I don’t know.” She said as she started to rack her brain to think of any name at this point. “Max, what if we named her after your sister?” “What?’ he asked. “Michelle Alexandra. Michelle, for your sister and Alexandra for mine.” She said, and he took her hand in his and then kissed it. “That sounds perfect,” Max said as he tried to keep his eyes on the road. He parked in the parking lot, and she got out Henry as he got the car seat out of the hospital. “You know we really need to stop coming to this hospital.”

His skin was tanned, as if he spent most of his time outside – killing territory passers – and he had a light stubble lining that perfect jaw. “Name’s Chase, never come into my territory again” he says and I’m suddenly pushed backwards. I land on my bum again, knowing that it will join the parts of me that will become blue. I scramble up, rushing towards Felix. For the first time in our lives, he wraps an arm around my waist, comforting me. “If I see any of you close to the border again – I will end you!” Chase warns. He glances at me for a second, giving me a wink before disappearing into the woods. When he’s gone I nestle my head into Felix’s shoulder, tears leaking out of my eyes.
