Antonio cried, his small voice trembling. The blond boy turned on him next, grabbing at the ear aid. "Give me that!" Antonio shrieked, trying to pull away, but he was too small. In one rough tug, the boy yanked the ear aid out of Antonio’s ear. It dangled in his hand for a second — then he crushed it under his heel. CRACK. The delicate device shattered into pieces on the pavement. Antonio stared at the ruins, his mouth opening in a silent scream.

I gasped, my heart lurching as I watched the screen flicker and die, shattered beyond repair. But Blaze wasn’t done. His boot came down, pressing against the ruined device, and with slow, deliberate force— He crushed it. The finality of it—the sound, the sheer dominance in the way he destroyed it so effortlessly—sent a shiver down my spine. I couldn’t move. Couldn’t breathe.
