That color. That brilliant, cosmic blue was still swirling faintly in her pupils before fading back to her natural shade of green. My gut twisted. I had seen the terrified faces of Bilan and Wollan, had seen the bodies of the men who had lost their lives while serving the kingdom. Based on all reports, those Direwolves had those exact same glowing, cosmic blue eyes. And then came the sound. The violent tremor that had just rocked the earth was followed instantly by that ancient, primordial howl ripping through the peaks.

"What do you need? What are you saying?" Her eyes flutter open, seemingly normal again. But when she turns to face me, I can see that her irises have turned from soft brown to scalding bright blue. You can still recognize when my irises alter shades, but not like before. I’m wearing the sapphire set, and I can honestly say I’ll be putting these on the most—the bright blue complements well when my eyes transition from gold to silver. I look beautiful and normal for once.
