The Mage's Heart

The Mage's Heart

The inn keeper’s plumply pretty wife and daughters, one unfortunately taking more after her father than her mother, watched in entertained bemusement from the doorway. “Why three fisheyes, not four or two?” I muttered. “The rule of three,” Rivyn replied mildly as he sorted through the herbs. The little earth ware jars clanked as he forced the seals open in order to look within. “Ah, good, marjoram. It’s old, but the seal was good, so it will do.” He had an array of small pottery jars lined on the scarred benchtop before him which had passed the initial inspection, and he was in the process of transferring the contents into many little pouches from his bag.

A brilliant adult fairy tale! Dark romance, fairies, sirens, mages, dragons, dark elves, mermaids, trolls, imps, spells, and quests. I loved it, an action packed adventure from beginning to end. Folk lore and fae stories truly came alive, I fell in love with the characters and got lost in the story.

Raised By Gods

Raised By Gods

Nexus said. “Will you be adding your blood before or after the unbinding chant?” Melody asked. “After for the potion. Before for the dirt jars. Do we have another jar to make the paste in?” Nexus asked. “What size jar do you need?” I asked her. “A sixteen ounce. It’s bigger than we need but the mouth of the jar is bigger than a twelve ounce. Easier to get your hand into and out of.” Nexus explained.

On the Origin of Humanity

On the Origin of Humanity

"There are several containers to your left in the cabinet. Load them as full as you can using the nozzle to avoid wasting any more bottles. They've already been cleaned and sealed, so just unscrew the lid and get to work. Then return them to the chiller to avoid spoilage. Make sure they're farthest away towards the front so we can utilize the oldest items initially." I knelt and rummaged in the cabinet, locating some very unfilled bottles similar to the ones already within the chiller. After detaching the covers, I laid them behind and fetched the unpasteurized milk jug. It's chunkier than I anticipated, and I almost plummeted it before repositioning it with both hands. Oh, my God.

A Bear's Mirrored Romance

A Bear's Mirrored Romance

“But I remember in the sitting room ceiling has several odd monsters fighting mythical creatures and animals. I thought it was cool, but a weird choice of subject for a sitting room.” “So? What do you think it is? A history of the fight? A monster-hunting guide? Kill them like this?” “Possibly, how they dealt with these things in the past, and I’m hoping something might explain the jars and how to seal them into the jars. It would be nice to find out what they planned to do with the jars too.” “That would definitely be nice. I know many who would use that process to its fullest capacity back home. I’ve never heard of it before this. Hey, here.” Larin found a rosette that felt loose and when

The Dark Silhouette

The Dark Silhouette

Unknown POV When I entered the basement, I unearthed all of my collections in glass jars that had been soaked in a soluble solution to keep them from decaying. Each jar has its name emblazoned on it so that it can easily be identified. I opened another empty jar and poured a diluted solution into it, almost completely filling the glass. Then I opened the fridge and took out a resealable plastic bag that I had placed there the night before. I put on my hand gloves and opened the plastic back to take the thing out from the inside. I tilted it up against my face to get a better look at it, then breathed its exquisite scent.

Second chance at happiness

Second chance at happiness

Mira called out to Jack as she realized that even though it was small, it was still heavy for her. Jack placed the boar in the basin while Mira poured the concentrated brine, and then continued to add water until the pig was covered. She didn’t have to worry about the temperature of the water as it was cold. Beth got two jars ready with brine. The men decided to pickle one half and smoke the other except for tenderloins which they decided to cure with salt. Mira showed Martin and Oden how to press salt into the meat and then filled a layer of salt in one square shaped container. She placed the cut that Martin did and put another layer of salt. She kept layering the meat and salt that Oden an

My Alpha, My Bodyguard

My Alpha, My Bodyguard

"Okay, now let's measure how much we have. For the number of jars that we have we'll need um…about five cups I think." Together, they measured out the berries, the deep, vibrant color of the fruit staining their hands and blending nicely with the rustic summer atmosphere. With everything ready, Vivienne gestured for Marcus to follow her to the stove where she turned on the heat and dumped the ingredients into the pot, keeping the flames low and steady. As they began cooking the berries, the scent of the grated lemon zest mixed with the simmering juices, creating a harmonious symphony.

IF THE TRUTH BE TOLD

IF THE TRUTH BE TOLD

To each of the other pots, I added two tablespoonsful of cleaning product, and I branded each jar with the name of the produces I had used. When all of the jars were sealed and labelled, I shook each one, put them all in a box and covered it. "It was dark in the bag, and warm." Having done all this, I turned to Sandra and continued, "We'll leave it for a week, then check on it and see what's happened. We mustn't open the jars, as the smells will be bloody awful. But we can check through the glass, and, using the Brine for an assessment, we can see examples, if any, of faster rates of decomposition."

I nodded and replied, "Yes, I discovered the method by accident. Some things can have a longer shelf life if you seal the jar tightly." The medicinal paste was made from herbs, animal bones, and fat, making it inherently durable. Its effectiveness could last longer if the sealing were correctly done. Sean asked, "How do you seal the jar tightly?" The tribe usually covered a jar with a layer of leaves to block the dust, so naturally, they did not know how to seal it. However, I knew how to do it. I had studied food engineering in college. I knew how to preserve food under primitive tribal conditions. I then gave Sean several suggestions.

Divorced With His Heir In My Belly

Divorced With His Heir In My Belly

I wanted to tell him that this wasn't a business dispute; it was an execution. But when I tried to form the words, my jaw wouldn't cooperate. My tongue felt heavy, like a piece of lead sitting in my mouth. "The... the barrels," I muttered, my head shaking slowly as a low, incoherent mumble escaped my lips. "The French oak... it takes six months to cure them. You can't... you can't just buy them at the store. They have to be seasoned. If the heat hits the sugar in the wood, it turns black. It turns into charcoal."
