I swallowed hard, forcing my gaze back up to his face. Nox walked to a shelf and retrieved a bottle before lounging in a chair. "Come here.” I hesitated, then approached slowly. "What's going on?" He held out the bottle, which contained a strange purple liquid. "Take this." "What is it?" I asked, eyeing the bottle suspiciously. In response, Nox turned his back to me, and I gasped. A long, angry cut ran across his lower back. “Silver blade," he explained, his voice tight. "Laced with wolfsbane. It won't close unless you apply this."

I returned to my office, made myself a cup of coffee, and waited. It didn't even take ten minutes before someone came knocking. The first to come in was, surprisingly, Layla. She clutched a USB drive so tightly her knuckles turned white. As soon as she stepped inside, she dropped to her knees. "I'm sorry, Ms. Cooper. I'm so, so sorry. I must've been out of my mind!" She cried, burying her face in one hand, while holding out the USB drive with the other. "Everything's in here—every chat log where Keira planned how to blow this up step by step and force you to give in!

There was no way for Cedric to take the lead. "What's this?" Collins asked. Melvin looked over. Her character was holding the blue shell weapon. He supposed that she hadn't gotten one before, though he couldn't imagine how that could be. Still, he explained it to her. Let them see how you’ll ruin this family again because of you!” As Belinda stormed off, Blue broke down, sobbing uncontrollably. Every word she hurled at him pierced deep into his heart. He started to wonder if he truly was a curse to their family.

Waist-high and glowing faintly, she looked like something out of a myth. The forest’s darkness bent around her, like even it didn’t want to mess with her. “Beautifully dangerous,” I murmured, smiling despite the exhaustion gnawing at my bones. “Just like me, huh?” Blue made that weird chirp-growl sound, almost smug. Suddenly, a dense mist rolled out across the clearing ahead. My hand went straight to my dagger. “Oh, come on. Not another one.” But before I could take a step forward, Blue’s body flared with a soft blue aura, her power rippling outward in a pulse that cut through the fog, the mist hissed, twisting and then dissolving completely, leaving behind a stretch of empty ground.
