I watched her carefully as she walked among them, the torches casting gold into her dark hair, her spine straight despite the tremor in her hands.
She was terrified.
But she was magnificent.
“My Lady,” a young man stepped forward — Renly, narrow-shouldered but sharp-eyed, the one Lady Marrow vouched for. “We’ve mapped the Purifier camps outside the eastern ridge. We can strike before they regroup.”
“Not yet,” Blythe said, voice crisp. “First, we gather the missing. The disappearances in the lower territories — children, healers, lone travelers—I want every name on my desk by nightfall.”
