(Curtis POV) I was at the table with the ledger when the door came open. Not knocked, not the two taps that everyone who came to this house used, just opened, and I was on my feet before I had processed why because a door that opened without knocking in the Lowlands at this hour was either someone very familiar or someone very wrong, and Danny Reeves was neither of those things, he was supposed to be in the northern borderland for another week at minimum, and he was standing in my doorway with his left arm held against his chest and his jacket torn at the shoulder and his face the color of old plaster.

"Tonight, I want us to explore the concept of unfinished business. The things we carry because we cannot find resolution." Curtis lifted his head. "I want to talk." Everyone looked at him. "Curtis," Dr. Chen said warmly. "Of course. Please share." Curtis's hands clenched in his lap. His breathing was uneven. For a long moment, Elijah thought he might change his mind. Then Curtis spoke. "My son was seventeen when he died. Daniel. Danny." Curtis's voice cracked on the name. "He was home alone. I had gone to the store. My wife was at work. Someone broke in."

Curtis was already back to where he sat. After moments of silence, the door was pushed open by the guards, and the hounds emerged. On the back of the hounds sat a healthy looking Gaius, far from what one would expect from someone who was kept in the torture room. “Gaius!” Dalton called as the hounds gently placed him on the ground. Curtis stood, whispering something to the hound before they were let out of the hall. “Alpha!” Gaius bowed.

One of them gave Daryl his phone, fawning, “I took a video of the whole thing, Richmond. Take a look at it—look at how wide that stupid grin of his was! He really thought she was going to hug him!” Daryl let the video play again before erupting into another chortle. He watched it again, relishing in Thomas’ most recent blunder, and snapped his fingers. “Not bad, this is good sh*t. Send it around—share it on social media, everyone,” he said to one of his subordinates. “I want everyone to look at how pathetic Simp Carter looks when he’s desperately in love! As for you—while, you’re shrewd enough for a reward, that’s for sure!”

I blow dry my hair in the bathroom and head out. My steps falter when I notice a figure standing by the window, looking outside. He's in the guards uniform, wearing all black, the muscles of his arms bulge out of his half sleeved shirt, his hair are kept short, I see a ear piece in his right ear. Sensing my arrival, the guard turns around. I recognise the familiar face. "Daisy." "Dario" "You did great!" He appreciates, I walk over to him and stand beside him, looking outside the view. "The news about Salvatore being Marcello's illegitimate son has spread like wildfire" he is pleased by it.

Dante beamed and asked the man to unstrap Curtis’s hands from the plaster. Curtis grinned in a bit pain as he rolled his wrists. “So, as I told you we both know each other…and you know I hate to hear ‘No’, Curtis!” Dante folded his two arms in his front while he gazed at Curtis who seemed limping already as the man had no other choice but working for him.
