I was standing at the head of the camp when Caspian approached me, his face serious. “Rylan,” he said quietly, pulling me to my feet. “We have a problem.” I followed him to a quieter part of the camp, away from the others, my eyes scanning the area to make sure no one was listening. Caspian’s expression was grim, his jaw set tight. I knew this wasn’t going to be good news. “Jon,” he said, his voice low. “The boy. He’s been talking to Damian.” I scowled. Jon was one of the youngest rogues in our camp. Only sixteen. He had been training hard with my men, learning the ways of battle, but he was still just a boy. His loyalty should have been unquestionable, but now, I wasn’t so sure.

Damon stood by the glass, suit jacket off, sleeves rolled up, looking dangerous and hungry. “Close the door,” he ordered. She did. “Damon, about last night—” He moved fast. In two strides he had her pinned against the cool glass, her back to the city. His big hand yanked her skirt up roughly around her waist. “Shut up,” he growled. “I’ve been hard all day thinking about this dripping cunt.” Before she could argue, he dropped to his knees right there in his expensive suit. His strong hands ripped her soaked panties down her legs and tossed them aside.

Later that night, after everything settled again— The house quieted. Lights dimmed. The world outside faded away into distance. Damian stood by the window for a long time. Then turned toward me. “Come here,” he said softly. I did. He took my hand gently. Not pulling. Just guiding. We sat together near the window, watching the faint movement of the night outside. No urgency. No fear. Just closeness. And when he finally leaned in— I didn’t pull away. Because this time— There was nothing left to run from. Only what we had rebuilt. Together.

He replies before walking away. Damon places two plates on the table, a well-cooked steak in each. “Don’t mind him, Alice.” He says, breaking the silence. “Who was he?” “My friend. Seeing her best friend not waking up, Avery smirked, knowing one of his weaknesses. Damian was ticklish. She sat on his thighs and started tickling his waist with her fingers. “No!” Damian shouted and started laughing, “No! Ave! Stop please!” he lied on his stomach, bursting out laughing as he couldn’t control it. “Avery fucking Jones!” Damian's screams and laughs could be heard all around the small loft. Avery was now smiling proudly, staring at her best friend, who was already up and washing his face. “Chocolate?” Tom asked.

While Gale is walking across the course at a speed that a sloth could overtake her, Damien and I try, and fail, to imitate the sound Cain made just now, stopping when he shoots us a look that lets us know how much he's not enjoying our joke. "He's a bit up and down, isn't he?" I whisper to Damien when we climb down to the forest floor and wait for the others to make their way across. "Like, he was being all jokey and flirty one minute, then the next he's all moody and serious."

He chuckled and said, "Tone down your voice." Drake let out a long sigh before casting an eye across to Emily. He gave her a little head shake before gently petting her pallid hand. Damn it!
