Daniel was young and in love, just not with the girl he was set to marry. Unfortunately for him and his would be bride, he was from a very rich and powerful family who owed a favor to someone else. His father made a private deal with the man to repay the debt by allowing his daughter to marry Daniel. The deal was made long ago, when the two were just children, but that didn't matter now. All that mattered to his father was keeping his promise and repaying his debt to the other man. He considered it a blemish on his family's good name and flat refused to die with that promise still unkept. Daniel had no choice but to take matters into his own hands.

After I returned to the past, I saw those misleading comments again. I was not going to sit back and accept my fate again.

The man I loved became cruel. He treated me as if I was just there to produce an heir. As though he would kill me rather than love me. I wouldn’t be able to return to ice-skating. I would never become the world champion. With all my dreams shattered, I stepped onto my grandmother’s porch hours after escaping in the hopes that she would take me back. Daniel “Where the hell is she, Harper?” I gripped her throat so tightly that she couldn’t breathe never mind speak. Harper had set Ava free. There was a very real possibility that I would never be able to find Ava which meant I would never be able to see my son. Harper had done that. All because she wanted the power and prestige that came with being my mate. “Let her go, Daniel!” My father’s voice echoed past me and I whipped around to glare at him. I could see it in his eyes. He was the one who put Harper up to this. I needed to find Ava. I needed to bring her and my son home.

After a venomous snake bites me, my husband, Daniel Dawson, injects the only antivenom into my adopted sister, Grace Winton. Before I black out, I see my parents, Daniel, and my son, Ethan Dawson, all gathered around Grace, while I lie alone on the grass, completely ignored. I give up the conservative plan and swallow a potent painkiller instead. Over the next two days, I transfer the hospital my grandfather gave me and every asset in my name to Grace. I divorce Daniel and place both his and Ethan's hands into Grace's.
