“I miss him, Phantom.” Phantom rose to his feet and said seriously. “Do you wish to visit him?” “Please…” She was kind of begging although she wasn’t sure why she did it in the first place. “Please…” Yet, it felt right. “Okay, we’ll visit him.” Phantom didn’t disappoint her at all. “Phantom, my brother said ’stop being suicidal. My time hasn’t arrived yet.’” He snorted. “Damn right.” They ended their conversation with dark humor.

My phone buzzed again — one last message from Danny, still waiting on the screen. I read the words, and they echoed sharp and loud in my head: She hung up on Danny — but his last words kept ringing: “You’ll regret trusting the brother who never even tried.”

“Your husband isn’t even buried yet, and you’re already bringing your lover here?” The man’s face stiffened. Then he quickly forced out a polished smile and walked toward me. “Bro, you must be Adrian Hayes. I’ve heard Maya mention you many times.” He looked straight at me with the air of a winner. As if he were saying, So what if your brother was the young heir of the Hayes family? He still lost to me in the end. I sneered. Then I raised my hand and slammed my fist into his face. “I only have one brother, and that’s Nathan. What the hell are you?”
