A Dark Curse
Dust motes dance in the air, illuminated by the soft light, and I can't help but feel a sense of relief wash over me as we descend further into the depths.
I lean heavily against Dominic, my legs trembling with the effort of each step. The poison burns like fire, every movement sending waves of agony crashing over me, but somehow, being in the basement soothes the pain, if only slightly.
As we reach the bottom of the stairs, Dominic releases me, allowing me to sink down onto the cool stone floor. The darkness presses in around us, a comforting blanket that shields us from prying eyes and unwanted intrusions.
