Dark Matter A Novel Review Novels & Stories

Luckily during my training, I got well-versed in every genre. Actually, dark romance is a guilty pleasure of mine. Not that I'll ever admit that. I've read many, and I know how to make her books as dark as they can be. She must be new to writing it because she completely discarded the truly dark romance plot and went to the morally gray one. Just because I like dark romance doesn't mean I want to do this stuff to her.

It was the kind of dust that suggested the shelves hadn't been touched in a long time, that their previous occupant had simply walked away, leaving their mark behind. Her hand moved across the shelf, sweeping and dusting it. With each swipe, she uncovered more dust, more layers of a life that had been left behind. It was strange, the way the dust seemed to hold onto things, refusing to let go. Then, with a soft, dry scratching sound, her fingers brushed against something solid at the very back of the shelf. A book.

The Innkeeper, frozen in a silent exclamation, seemed to fade from my vision. It was as if I was no longer in the dusty office, but suspended in a void, surrounded by swirling mists of light and shadow. Then, images began to coalesce within the glow of the parchment. They weren't static pictures, but fleeting, vibrant snippets, like dreams playing out in rapid succession. I saw flashes of familiar faces, though some were older, etched with lines of experience I hadn't seen before. There was Fenrik, his golden eyes blazing with an intensity that sent a shiver down my spine, but also a weariness that hadn't been present moments ago.
