I could see tears streaming down her face.
“Why are you crying?” I asked in a hushed voice, as my right hand stretched outward to wipe the tears from her face. Van stood beside her, his eyes fixed on me with pity.
“Gina,” said Narah, her voice cracking violently. “Please, don't—”
“It's okay,” I interjected sharply. “I'm sorry for everything. Now go, my father is in the clearing. I want you to send him to hell where he belongs.”
Narah's gaze darted toward Corolla's lifeless body and back to me. She shook her head abruptly, holding me tighter. Though pain shot up my whole body, the warmth of her skin and the scent of her filled me with an insurmountable amount of joy.
