“The journal has more secrets. The blood only revealed the first layer. There are other textures, other papers I haven’t been able to… activate.” His hand came down on my shoulder. Not a caress. A claim. His fingers pressed into my flesh, a deliberate, possessive weight. “Then find the next layer.” The command was absolute. But beneath the iron control, I heard it—a thread of something new. Not just hunger for the legacy. Hunger for this. For my mind working, for the secrets I pulled from the darkness. “I will need to try different things,” I said, my voice barely above a whisper. “The blood opened one door. Perhaps other… reagents… will open others.”

My name is Elora and I reside at the Blue Mountain Packhouse. I have a slim figure, long curly blonde hair which I usually wear up in a bun so it is out of my face. My eyes are a deep blue which I love. I am not a normal girl though. You see I am a shewolf, my rank at the packhouse is an omega. The world around her flickered. In a flash, she saw herself standing alone on a battlefield, the orb cracked and drained in her hands, and shadows closing in from all sides.

Within the center of the chamber stood a pedestal, upon which rested an orb, pulsing with a ghostly blue light. Ethan drew nearer to the sphere cautiously, feeling the crude power radiating from it. “This... this is it,” he murmured. “The source of the darkness.” Lena stepped forward, her eyes fixed on the orb. “If we destroy it, we might be able to stop whatever’s chasing us.” “Or we could unleash something even worse,” Ethan replied, his voice tinged with uncertainty. The darkness swirled and coalesced into a monstrous form, a towering figure of shadow and malice with glowing red eyes that locked onto Ethan and Lena.
