Ding! I woke up terrified from bed in a dark room, panting heavily from the nightmare perpetually haunting me every single night. I was drenched in sweat and my whole body was trembling. My clothes were wet, my sweat was dripping from my forehead down to my neck. My room is air conditioned but I sweat a lot. I look down at the middle of my thigh. I can feel the sticky liquid there. It’s not just my wet clothes but my femininity. Fucky! My dreams are getting worse now, since I saw vampires in the forest.

**Dream** I am playing in the clearing with Darius. We are laughing and running around when all of a sudden the sky goes black and Darius has disappeared. I am then standing in front of a very large white wolf and a slightly smaller white panther. I am surprised when I don’t feel scared but safe and connected to them somehow. I then shoot my hands to my head as a sharp stabbing pain hits me along with 2 soft female voices, "Yasmine, it is time to remember..."

I’m definitely not worrying about Austin’s mom or brother or… Nothing… my mind is blank and I love it. I snuggled into the duvet and promptly blacked out. The bad feelings came back. Along with it were the nasty dreams. Sweat and the day’s worth of grime stuck to my skin as I plodded to the bathroom. I took a scalding shower while I tried to force the phantom touches out of my mind. It wasn’t the black figure this time. Dark swirling tendrils of smoke suffocated me. I think that was worse. It choked me awake.

It had gone well, but Melody was still such a wild array of emotions, so much darkness in her heart. On the plane ride home, Melody had the strangest dream. It wasn't anything she recognised, it moved her emotionally in a way she had never experienced in a dream. It was as though light itself was fighting to stay bright as a liquid darkness tried to touch and drag under anything it could touch. Melody felt bad for the tiny dancing threads of light, watching as more and more were snuffed out and her dream became darker and darker. The liquid darkness was almost seductive looking, like it would be warm and peaceful inside the thick liquid if you let it wash over you.

I elaborated further. "Awesome! I felt relieved that the candles were here to protect me from bad spirits. Speaking of dark smoke, I have recurring nightmares that I am being attacked by a black mist every night. Maybe it's not a nightmare after all. The black mist I saw in my dreams is real!" he exclaimed. His voice tensed as he remembered his terrifying dreams, tormenting him every night. "What did the mist do to you in your dreams?" I asked.

“You’re going to be amazing tomorrow. And when Diana shows herself, we’ll be ready.” “What if she doesn’t show? What if this whole thing is a distraction?” “Then we adapt. Like we always do.” He kissed my forehead. “Now sleep. You need rest.” I closed my eyes. Tried. Eventually, exhaustion pulled me under. My dreams were dark. Filled with faceless wolves. Shadows that moved wrong. And a woman’s laugh. Cold. Cruel. Familiar even though I’d never heard it before. I woke to sunlight and the smell of coffee. Lycian was ready.

Dark shapes moving like nightmares. It was war.
