because my life has reached a level of pathetic that requires supernatural intervention. “Veni ad me, daemon ignis,” I mutter, squinting at my phone. “Uh— vincula carnis, something something, claim me?” I snort. Take a sip of wine. The candles flicker again, harder this time, all of them at once, and the temperature in the room drops so fast I see my breath. The lights go out. Not just the candles. Everything. The kitchen light, the bathroom light, the glow of my phone, all of it dies at once and the darkness is absolute, total, the kind of dark that has weight and texture and presence.

Everything goes blurs, blackness engulfs me. Roman's screams echoes " Rose...no!" Next silence, then nothing but darkness forever. ############

Well, it’s probably obvious to someone who’s been abandoned that a reminder about such an event was a trigger to a much painful breath than death. “Be prepared—” Dark’s voice was deep, groveling, as though it had been pulled from the depth of the ocean, and was echoed by a menacing tone that made it look as though two people were speaking. “—to die!” The mistress laughed as Dark charged blindly. The flames of his darkness lashing toward her as though some kind of lasso whipping in the air, but, as usual, she managed to annihilate it with a wave of her hand. She was the propagator of the Sylvania’s strength and has, thus, full immunity to it.

The goddess eyed me sceptically. “Ask it.” She demanded rather than invited. “You said, in order to defeat the darkness, you must first defeat the light.” I paused. A part of me hoped that what I was about to say was wrong. That I had got the complete wrong end of the stick. But the gnawing pain in my heart told be otherwise. “You are yet to ask me a question.” “The darkness is Tenebris?” I ask. “Yes.” “The light…” gulping back the tears that threatened to spill over, “Then the light must mean….”

The Darkness pushed as I clenched my fist, closed my eyes, and began to hum, using the humming to block out the voice of the Darkness and focus my intention on blocking out the Darkness's ploy. The Darkness's voice, a persistent whisper, echoed in the depths of my mind. It promised it threatened, it persuaded, but I remained steadfast. I knew its true intentions, its insatiable hunger for power and souls. My twins were innocent, mere infants, and I would protect them at all costs.

She needed answers. * The sun was high in the sky by the time she finished her first set of exercises. As soon as the lights went off in the gymnasium, it became dark. It wasn’t particularly dark. The lighting in there wasn’t as bad as it usually was, but it definitely wasn’t bright either. It had never been bright and shining, however. The lighting had always been dim and monochrome. Even on the brightest of days, the light from the windows barely managed to reach the ceiling above. Even when it did manage to reach the top, it was barely visible thanks to the thick clouds that covered the sky. It was almost impossible to see the color of anything when there weren’t any shadows to hide behin

The man's hand on my arm immediately fell. They stepped back but stopped when continuous thunders echoed in the sea. I got startled too, but I stood still on my position and fixed my eyes on the man in front. He's just standing there, no weapons, and eyes glowing in the midst of darkness. He didn't just look dangerous. He looked lethal. The look in his eyes screamed bloodshed. The thought of what he could do in anger made me shiver.

I whisper, keeping my voice steady even though it sounds forced. “You really don't know, do you?” Closer. “I know nothing of your twisted madness. Just come out with whatever it is and let us get it over with.” I utter with vehemence. For goodness sake, I just want this to be a past I can recover from soon enough. I'm tired of the games. The silence from his end stretches into minutes, becoming suffocating and oppressive. How can a man be in the darkness, not saying a word and still exude this type of dangerous energy? How did Kyle even get himself mixed up in such company?

I said as I grip on his wrist. "Of course, you'll go with me..." Well, that's a relief. Or he's just sca-- "it's so dark there. I forgot to turn on the lights..." that's it, he's just scared. This kid is really scared of the dark. I'm glad I'm the one who's blind and not him. He would probably lose his sanity if he woke up seeing nothing but darkness.
