Daughter Of The Moon Goddess: Book 2 の小説・ストーリー

My claws pushed against my skin, splitting it open. The wood beneath my hands cracked. The air in the room grew heavy, shimmering with power I fought to keep down. I could feel my teeth sharpening, my bones threatening to shift. Not now. Not here. “Are you sure?” My voice came out low, guttural. Daniel nodded quickly, eyes wide. “Yes, Boss. I verified it twice. There’s no mistake.” A bitter laugh escaped me. Fate—no, the Moon Goddess herself—was playing a cruel joke. The girl I had longed for, searched for, waited for… was the daughter of the man I swore to destroy.

They stand up and look at me. “We are you,” I look at them puzzled. “What do you mean?” They look at each other. They show their marks at me. It was the mark I have on my shoulder. I show them also my mark and they all glowing. “We are here to protect you because you are the sole daughter of the moon goddess.” My eyes widen because of what they have said. “I have the blood of a goddess? How?” None of them answered. “You should keep the secret you are the daughter of the Moon Goddess; many creatures may harm you. The blood of a goddess can bring back life. You are not exempted into the harsh reality of living.”

He gestured around like the smug bastard he was. “Where is here exactly?” I narrowed my eyes, obviously, this was the home my parents built on the Cresent Moon territory, but something was off about the whole encounter. “This?” He once again flailed his hands around, I was growing tired of that gesture. “You don’t keep up very well, do you?” He tutted, “You’re trapped here Sophia, somewhere in the confines of the Moon Shadow pack lays an unconscious body which will soon be surrounded by helpless souls with no idea how to wake their precious Moon Goddess.”

The moment my consciousness sank into boundless darkness, I thought it was the end. But then, warmth seeped into me. My eyes fluttered open, and I saw the moon goddess again. "...Dear moon goddess?" I whispered, my voice echoing in the vast, starry void. "My mission failed. I didn't win anyone's love." The Goddess's compassionate gaze fell upon me, her ethereal voice echoing through the space, reaching the very depths of my being. [Child, according to our agreement, with the failure of your mission and confirmation of your death, your consciousness should have completely dissipated.]

For a long time, we just stood there, two souls woven by the Goddess herself, watching the moonlight spill like silver fire over the sleeping kingdom. And then, a voice that wasn’t a voice brushed against my mind—soft, haunting, eternal: The daughter of the Moon is ready… for the war of fates. My breath froze. Gabriel stiffened, sensing it through the bond. The night seemed to hold its breath with us. I turned in his arms, meeting his gaze, my heart pounding with something sharp and cold. The war wasn’t over. It was just beginning.

The time had come to face it and accept it. I stood in Kingston’s vast library, the ancient tome open before me on the heavy wooden table, the golden moon emblem on the page glowing faintly. My fingers trembled as I read the words aloud again, as if saying them too many times would make them more believable: “The Moon’s Daughter shall rise with the moon’s divine light in her blood to bring unity in her name. Only beside her true mate shall the veil lift, and the scattered packs of humans, hybrids, and wolves shall stand as one beneath her light and the great Moon.”

Zeonen sneered. His mocking gaze, full of scorn and derision, seemed to ask Eradine if she thought herself better than the woman who was his fate, his destiny. The woman whose soul was tied to his by the Moon Goddess herself. Eradine covered her chest, her heart throbbing with pain, as her mouth filled with the sweet taste of fresh blood. The blow she suffered under his frosty and alien stare had caused her to bite her lips until she drew blood.

Liz said looking at her lap. “Really? Go ahead and tell me. I’ve been around for a while now, so not many things surprise me.” He said causing us to look up and see the smile on his face. “Ok here goes.” I said shyly. “Last night Liz and I both had the same dream. Well nightmare is more like it. It scared us enough that Liz stayed with me in my room. When we both fell asleep the Moon Goddess took us to her realm.” Alpha James gasped. “What?”

The beast shuddered, let out a low whine, and then collapsed into dust at her feet. “So it is true,” she whispered. Her voice was soft, almost tender, but the cruel joy in it filled the room like poison. “The Alpha’s daughter carries the moon’s power. A gift that should never have been hers. That light belongs to me.” With a sweep of her hand, the black water stirred and rose into shapes. Images formed on its surface—Lyra clutching her child, Damien standing over them like a shield, and the pack gathered in silence, caught between awe and fear.
