THE OTHER ME WANT MY MAN
"Tell me— why would Adrian want to kill Marcus? It was you he hated. So why should he want to kill Marcus, the man he loves? Think, Laim."
My mind races. At first, I assume Deception is just trying to mess with my head, trying to plant doubt. But something about his words sticks with me. I try to shake it off. "I know it was me he wanted to kill. But he shot Marcus by mistake," I say firmly.
Deception grins at my words. "Come again. By what again?" he presses.
I frown but repeat myself. "He shot Marcus by mistake."
And then Deception laughs. A deep, knowing laugh. "Mistakes don’t happen unless the celestial beings in charge of them allow it," he says, his eyes gleaming with amusement.
