I remove my shirt and pull it over the frame covering the photo. Then I reach down and look at the plaque once more. ‘For Clem.’ staring back at me and with a grunt of effort, I rip it from its glued spot and stick it in my pocket. The dishonor of refusing to name the Alpha and Luna he killed is apparent. His desire for his daughter to know their deaths were her fault is even more noticeable. I turn and find Ivy standing at the next grotesque trophy case, frozen as she reaches out with shaky hands to touch the wedge that nearly broke me. My skin prickles at the sight of my blood dried on it and she growls before kicking the monument down.

She couldn’t understand what he said, “Pull the trigger, Adele.” She resisted, but he himself pressed the trigger. SHOT Adele’s ears heard a loud sound, and their blood oozed out from Decker’s chest. “I told you-you are my death and my redemption.” He closed his eyes, Before Adele could process it, Decker’s body fell off the bridge. The media people caught this whole thing, “Adele, are you ok?” Elijah came, and Adele looked at her hand, filled with Decker’s blood.

She turned slowly, as if the words had reached her late. “You thought she was faking,” she said. Adrian’s face went gray. “She said it was cranberry juice.” My father closed his eyes. A medical examiner arrived later with a preliminary report. She did not repeat what the paramedics had already said. She only added the part they had not known. “The trial compound appears to have triggered acute kidney failure, followed by cardiac arrest. Her body was already severely depleted before she took it.” My mother lifted her head. “Depleted?”

Jaden asked as I loaded a handgun. "They've each earned two shots. One for Nat and one for Margo. One in the heart and one in the head." I snarled as the men looked at me, shocked. Decker nodded first, "I want Skull" he requested and I carefully handed him the gun. Decker walked over to him. "For Nat." Decker said simply and shot. Skull was dead a second later with a hole in his head and in his chest where his heart was supposed to be but I doubted that a man that evil even had a heart.

"When was the last time you saw someone goblincided?" Deke had to search his memory for that one. "Not in decades. There have been some deaths I suspected were done by them, but I never investigated them." "Maybe we need to get Tex involved in this. He could get us the research in the time it will take us to explain what we need."

“You’re trembling like pups waiting for scraps.” One elder—a fat man with sweat glistening on his brow—cleared his throat. “M-my Alpha… what brings you such joy?” Carlo’s lips curled. “Alpha Kadel of Crestmoon… is dead.” For a second, silence. Then—Gasps. Wide eyes. Shock rippled through the room. “Dead?” one elder whispered. “Impossible—he was strong—” But then Carlo chuckled again, slow and dark. And just like that, the shock broke.

He was going to go public, expose corruption that would have destroyed the pack’s reputation.” “So you killed him,” I whispered. “So he was eliminated,” Deuce corrected. “Along with his family. To ensure there were no witnesses, no one to carry on his crusade.” “His daughter was twelve years old.”

It looked like we had a chance here. "No one really ever expected low levels like that to kill you. You have a legend around you you know." Dekle chuckled. "But after the strange event in that forest things changed. Not for the better for you. Now they want your life." When he said 'they', I knew who he was really talking about. "So why haven't you killed me yet? I'm tired of listening to your nonsense." I said. Oisin would no doubt have come up with some sort of plan with Kerrigan. If I could create some sort of distraction myself, or at least drop Dekle's guard to rock bottom then it would increase our chances of getting out of this mess.

“Do you know their Alpha?” Derek gave a short snort. “Used to.” Something about the way he said it made me pause. “What happened?” Derek answered casually— “I killed him.” My eyes widened immediately. “In battle,” he added calmly. “Years ago.” I stared at him in disbelief. “So… the Silverback Alpha is dead because of you?” “The old one,” Derek corrected. "I don't know who the new alpha is." I opened my mouth to respond— But Derek suddenly lifted his head slightly.

My statement has earned a lift of DK’s eyebrow as he question why Anya needed to learn about poison. “Poison?” DK asked. “The organizers had contacted Uncle Drake earlier to report that there were four dead warriors. “Four?!” DK said almost shouting. “Yes,” I replied. “But the test doesn’t require combat and I know that Uncle Drake specifically asked that the safety of the warriors is the top priority.” “I know, and they are now debating whether they should announce the death of the warriors or not,” I explained. “Let me guess,” DK said, “They didn’t die because of the test. They died because of poison.”
